The hunting truce is not  a decree from the Estonian legal system. It is an agreement between hunters on their own initiative to express their respect for our nature. The tradition began in 1993 in Heimtal in Viljandimaa but each year the ceremony is held in a different place in Estonia. This year the hunting truce is proclaimed for the 22nd time.

 

The hunting truce was proclaimed on Wednesday, December 17th, at 18.00 o’clock in the Tartu Jaani church.
