Look at that food in the bottom picture of the previous post -- there are seeds that look like ears and a nose!

Olga you are lucky your dogs do not chase the squirrels -- my sister's dog a border collie caught one and her husband held the poor little thing when it died.

Later today when the nuts were almost finished came one Squirrel more.. Oh my.. he looked so confused in the rain, no nuts.. Then he found some few nuts from the corner of the feeder.. He ate them in all peace. Then he/she seemed to wait for something.. :rolleyes:

pics later

I have been taking pictures even though I have not posted them -- after all I get none of squirrels -- but it is amazing how much you see when you look with the camera.

Meanwhile, before the next squirrel came, a Great Spotted Woodpecker visited the place - it 's a regular visitor, very shy!! (A Lesser Spotted Woodpecker also visits, but seldom. I have not managed to take a pic)

They are oak seeds. They have been there for weeks under the nuts.. Maybe squirrel like more peanut.. They have their favorites..they too. Anyway they just do not want to eat them. But some birds like them.

What wonderful colours they are, in the sunshine. And so much difference between the one who still has his grey winter coat and the bright red one who is dressed for Spring.

I shall miss these squirrels, but we can look forward to them again, later in the year.

Olga I am pleased that spring has finally arrived there.
But that squirrel is looking at you with such pleading.. :cry: he is even praying.. :cry: How can you resist ? Maybe you should reduce the seeds bit by bit.?
We will miss your friends Fina and Mathias.
Meanwhile I am looking at this cam at times during the day;

Yesterday the 8th May, one of the new guests was sitting there on the stone terrace. It was a gray day, but the Squirrel was not. I think it is a she..

She knew what to do..

Image

She checked the situation, only some nuts left and corn seeds..

Their fingers and toes are lovely aren't they?

-- The way she/he seems concerned about the diminished food reminds me of my friend when she became a vegetarian and stopped sharing meat with her cat, her cat became concerned and began to bring more presents. So if new seeds begin to arrive you will know the squirrels are worried about you. --
