a chick ate self-reliant yesterday.
At first it took a piece of eggshell, and then something black (looking like a - dead - fly) and ate both.

there are many breaks in the transfer now.

I was thinking the same thing. I remember him incubating during the day, but I don't recall him making any daytime appearances since the chicks hatched. (Even his mate didn't seem to be expecting him, seeing how she just ignored him at first :rolleyes: )

And, in fact, this might well be the first time the whole family has been seen together... :unsure:
