Considering this is the most random thread ever, I just discovered the cam for the new bird of year, Great Crested Grebe.

FB hates me. It never shows me the important information.
I saw it on the main page of Looduskalender.

We can hope for the next egg tomorrow.
Hopefully there will also be a special thread for the nest, after all there is a folder for the bird of the year.

Spruce bark beetle https://www.youtube.com/user/Riigimets
European spruce bark beetle (Ips typographus), German: Buchdrucker, is a species of beetle in the weevil subfamily Scolytinae...
(Wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/European_ ... ark_beetle)
In the video that is already there (no time stamp) I was looking for the spruce bark beetle but instead spotted one of its predators - probably the ant beetle (Thanasimus formicarius). Photos enhanced for sharpness.
These prey on the adult bark beetle as well as on its offspring. They are helpful in decimating the bark beetles temporarily, but can not stop mass infestation. (Wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thanasimus_formicarius and more detailed in the German version)
“Animals, like us, are living souls. They are not things. They are not objects. Neither are they human. Yet they mourn. They love. They dance. They suffer. They know the peaks and chasms of being.” (G. Kowalski) Caveat: Apart from this remarkable sentence I do not agree with his philosophies.
