There was a buzzard on the nest.Felis silvestris wrote:Eagle on nest. Nicely enough showed the back, no transmitter, so "Mrs Tõnn"?

As you noticed, yesterday we "decorated" view to the nest. Maybe now it is even more natural... Triin helped kindly to watch possible flight of an eagle during I was near the nest, as well as view through the cam.
Hopefully next visit of GSE will be not so quick anymore. It is not possible to hide lens fully (it is actually, but...). It may be that eagle felt some fear of microphone, not of lens so much? Anyway everything suspicious is hided with spruce twigs now.
If you hear some sheep voices, then it is fully normal there. Behind the cam (south) there is sheep fence about 50 m only. And eagles have seen people close to sheep every day during last and current year.
After arriving Tõnn has been all time in breeding territory, sitting mostly at the edges of forest/grass fields, including sheep pasture. Not much locations near the nest, but few. We can see location of Tõnn after every half of hour in light time. We don't know their habits, yet. Last year when Tõnns territory was found (in 30th of April), Tõnn kept the same core area as this spring, but by that time female sit on the nest already. So maybe some two weeks up to laying of eggs.
Common Buzzads are always around there, so logically they had to appear in cam view once.

If I had seen the bird like this ... Until now I have not seen any bird there, so also no chance to relate in size.sigge wrote:

But there is hope now that camera and microphone are hidden, the next visit is better. I'm very curious to see the famous Tõnn in front of one of our cameras.

Thank you for observations and pictures from today, and to Urmas and Triin for fixing the nest, and for the information. I was wondering a little if Buzzards so close to the nest would be a "problem" for the GSE, but apparently they are not, since they are always around.

Aita, I think the calls in your video is a Honey buzzard. Pretty early.
I am not sure about the earlier calls (10:25 and later). They were different.

Audio recording of the calls after 10:24 http://picosong.com/i2EE
I am not sure of the calls in the first minute, but I suppose after that is a Gs eagle.
Is there anybody who knows?

Yes, that was GSE voice. That kind of voice GSE makes if some predator in its territory (White-tailed Eagle. Golden Eagle, Eagle Owl for example). In case of human near nest it is not used as much as remember.
