Re: Golden Eagle Webcam Nest 2021
Thanks Triin and Liz!
The ring code is three numbers and one letter, I asked the ring provider Eagle72 and they say the letter for year 2015 is D.
I see a 4 and 0 on the good video and probably 3.
Here is how the numbers looks: http://eagle72.se/fargmarkning/

sigge, thank you! that is very helpful for me.
I hope he / she comes again. On the other hand, what is the probability that Kalju and Helju will use this nest again? I'm not very familiar with the behavior of golden eagles.

Nice pics I would guess on willow tit.
Me heard ravens and crested tit but no black grouse.
Any news on identification of the visiting eagle?
On the old rings I have (as keyrings) the numbers are repeated once but not the letter, number 5 looks a bit odd.
8 eaglets here got colour rings in 2015 so not so many to chose from

The Golden eagle with ring 405D was ringed in 2015 in Eastern Estonia. No previous sightings.sigge wrote: ↑January 15th, 2021, 12:30 pm

good morning!
yesterday evening Urmas gave news about this camera:
unfortunately Urmas didn't give an estimate about the time it will take to get new batteries installed. i guess it will take a week or two, but i hope it will be as soon as possible. the camera has been off already for a week.

There are always energy problems with early cams. No sun, short days, snow on solar panels, low temperature - these cause drain of batteries. Even if to switch camera off for night. It is possible to change the batteries, but that is really problematic in case if in bog there is water under the snow. To carry batteries over two km on back is really hard work, I would say almost impossible in that conditions. We tried also sleigh, but also very difficult in powder-like snow and over very uneven ground, plus you never know when next step means in water over the rubber boots. Temperature of air there is -5 or lower... We used special machine to transport batteries, solar panels etc heavy things, but that will cause visible tracks in snow and invites people to look after those. Also nest owners may be close somewhere and to be disturbed.
Those are main things we need to take into account if plan something near cam nest in bog. So please forgive us the interruptions in transmission! We also would like to see every action of eagles in front of cam, but... nothing and nobody is perfect.

Yeah like me trying to inspect and putting up new owl boxes, don't want to leave tracks in the snow.

Sounds like a woodpecker have a mill near the nest.
