Very interesting what you sayRicky wrote: Good to hear that it is well organized in Alsace. Here it´s not the case. In an area of maybe 30 kilometres diameter I only know one fence.
Et oui, je vais prendre des photos.
(And yes, I will take pictures.)
I'll try to find out what is done in Portugal for this!

Recently we were discussing the sounds made by chicks BEFORE they hatch. Such an event is happening now at
http://www.hancockwildlifechannel.org/s ... 1010059972
This is a webcam on a Bald Eagles' nest in Hornby Island, near Vancouver, Canada.
I have just listened to a very clear little chirping sound, as Mother got up and re-settled herself down on to two eggs. The Hancock forum members report that an egg has been pipped, so the chick will emerge soon. It is certainly in good voice (so is that darned boat engine!)
I think Mother is looking into the camera and is hissing at the reflection she sees.

I heard the going-to-be-hatched chick again 2 minutes ago, when Mother got up again. There is a lot of bird song to be heard, but when the chick is calling, you will know which one it is!

Just SAW the chick.
Parent eagle is looking at it as if to say 'And where did you spring from ?'
Or, more likely a most admiring look.
Thanks to Jo for the link.

From this link the Tit is seen arriving with a large piece of food for the chicks and seems totally bewildered by the sheer number she sees before her.(5,6 or7chicks)
The link takes you to the page, then see video from 5/5/2009.

I am enjoying it very much and have recommended it to my parents -- their connection is slower than mine so they will look to see if they can rent it.macdoum wrote:I am posting this all over the place (don't really know WHERE to put it)

Here is a sickening report that one of our Golden Eagles has been killed by poison. Look at the sadness on that man's face.
