The camera operates from 4 a.m till 11 p.m (Central European Time).

Info from the web site about the events so far:
14.02 - The nest has been found (it's in construction). Close to the new nest is also the old nest. The goshawks can be heard in tree crowns.
12.03 – The nest is noticeably larger. On the top there are fresh pine twigs, one of the birds calls in the forest.
26.03 - Camera installation. The birds immediately accept the installed equipment.
30.03 - Fourth egg appears, so there is full clutch.

Thank you, BigDee, for this goshawk webcam. It's a very clear image, and the birds are clear to see. They have such obvious striped or barred markings that makes it easier to identify them as goshawks.

As we have seen goshawk predation on an Estonian nest camera, it will be interesting to learn more about them here. Actually, I am going to hope for a day with rather less strong sunlight. The contrast between light and dark makes viewing a little less easy.

8th April

13.33 - Eggs visible for a short time, when parent stands up to clean feathers.

Two are hatched. Third is on the way.

May 10th
The Goshawk family is doing well, although the smallest of four chicks is not always turned towards food.


In the evening, mother covered children with pine twigs and flew away.


When she came back with the prey, all the chicks woke up and begged for food.


At 20:39, male brought another prey, but mother did not feed the chicks, but only covered them again with twigs for the night.

Just had a bit time yesterday to watch the nest. Looks like the gang of four is doing well (everyone with full crop).

May 18.

I watched the nest shortly during an evening feeding. The prey was a bird.
I could only see three chicks in the nest. Looks like the smallest one is gone.

Maybe he is hidden behind the siblings
I was watching the feeding one hour before, all looked well, although it was not easy to be close to the food for youngest chick in so crowded nest.

I like watching the hawk nest in Poland. 4 healthy strong chicks.

In Holland at Beleef de Lente it was very sad. The hawk hatched on a WTA nest and at first there was always quarrel with the white-tailed eagle. The WTA has another nest, last year he hatched in this nest. But the WTA did not want the hawk brooding in its old nest. The hawk has but 4 eggs laid in the WTA nest. All 4 chicks hatched. A few days later, 3 chicks crawled to the edge of the nest. They did not make the way back to the mother and starved and froze one after the other. The mother did not help them. Now there is another chick and that is a lot alone.

I had noticed, that the camera in the previous position covered only the center and the further part of the nest (related to the camera lens). It was possible, that a chick wasn't visible at all, when it moved close the the lens. That's also why I saw one evening only three chicks. One of the chicks must have been "under" the camera lens.

I always watch almost with disbelief how smoothly the distribution of food goes. The chicks in most cases wait patiently for their turn. Hardly any pushing, no aggression. In that case, goshawks are so different from WTEs od LSEs.

Today we have hot and sunny day. All young guys look for shady places in the nest.

June 1st
When mom brings food, the bigger sibling often grabs it. But mom keeps an eye on kids and checks, if smaller chicks also got their share.




There is very hot lately and chicks look for the shadow. They become more active in the morning and evening.

June 2nd

A prey is the ringed bird (red and blue ring)

June 8th
All four chicks are in the nest (or around)
They performed a lot of flapping, jumping and branching.
But for the night all were lying side by side in the nest.




The main menu are young birds , when parent brought a rodent (small rat?) no one was interested.
