19:54 - 58 Calls from a great distance
19:58:47 Goshawk lands to the left of the tree.

Calls

The two create me today ... :faint:

20:05 I didn't hear the Goshawk fly away. Does he stay near the nest?

I'm ending slowly for today.
I have to work tomorrow but I hope everything will be fine here! :innocent:

Sleep well! :offtobed:

Ps: I think H44 has narrower white eye triangles than H21. And the back of the head of H21 is equally drawn without much contrast. I need to double check but it might help differentiate them. Even without glasses and rings. And provided that this couple stays.
Emiliano, do you agree? :innocent:

Hello

The male's prey delivery can be done at first outside the nest and then carried by the female to the nest. They also do it when the chicks are grown and the mother goes after the prey carried by the male.

They get along quite well, it seems that the new individual may be the female but the size is not very different.

More distinguishing data: the first part of the back of the new one is like the one in front, well marked, the second black band of the tail from below is shaped like a "V".

If you have the data of the H21 ring, you will soon get us out of doubts. I think the new one is female.

Good night and greetings

Absolutely, of course! I could have figured it out myself. :slap:
Thanks Emiliano!

April 3rd

So far, a come, go and mate ....
It looks good.

06:33:04 H44 comes into the nest, lingers on the branches.
06:38:00 out
07:01:47 H21 lands on the upper branch, calls.
07:02:46 She drops into the nest, continues calling briefly H21 plucks branches, lies down and then looks around and listens to the crows. :innocent:
07:09:02 out, is calling

Image

Image

Image

07:21:25 H44 comes back with a large branch. He is building while H21 is calling from the forest.
07:22:37 He's thrown out
07:22:38 - 55 mating

07:23:27 And already H44 is back and continues to build. H21 calls again but he doesn't let himself be disturbed now. 07:26:29 Now he's flying back into the forest
07:26:33 - 49 mating

07:28:14 H44 is back. He only looks briefly and then flies to the upper branch.
07:28:14 H21 comes into the nest with a twig. H44 leaves the branch, but shortly afterwards it also comes back with a branch.
Now both are there. H21 on the side branch, H44 in the nest. :innocent: He builds diligently while she persuades him well.

07:30:58 H44 flies out of the nest past H21. She remains seated on the side branch.
07:33:36 H21 out

07:35:59 H44 falls into the nest from above in flight. THe wastes no time and fights for order with the big branch.

Give up, jump onto the upper branch.
07:38:11 out
07:38:24 - 42 Mating at a distance

I have to go to work. Have a nice day and have a lot of fun with this beautiful couple!

Hmm, I couldn't read any observations at the end of the day ... not here, not in the neighboring forum and in the chat the last of the morning. Should that be it?
I was irritated and started to rewind and see if at least twigs had moved. Well, I haven't come very far yet, very tired from the day, but I will still search a little.
13:34:08 You can hear the clap of the wings and love sounds from the tree until '20.
13:34:55 Something is sailing down from above. A feather or something similar.
Quiet ... only seagulls in the distance.
13:40:54 The Goshawk leaves the tree to the lower right.
13:41:18 - 22, 30 - 34 calls from a distance

Edit:

... there would be many moments to rewind them more precisely, but Pollys also need their sleep. I hope our couple return. We'll know more tomorrow.

April 4th

10:23:40 Two goshawks can be heard softly.
Short and quiet. I can't judge the distance.

I don't know what the abstinence from H44 and H21 to this nest has meant since yesterday. Everything looked good - now they stay away. :puzzled:

Good Morning.

I have not been following cameras for a long time, but I do observe that irregularity even in moments before sunset (Holland). Right here about a month ago, periods of activity also alternated with others that we didn't know anything about.
The two individuals are still young, they are not even a year old, that could also play a role.

The first times we saw H44 she believed she could be female. Compared to H21 and its behavior it is the male but it is a fairly large male.

The dark spots or tears of H21 are also thicker than those of H44.

11:43 Right now there are off-camera sounds very close to the nest. They are here again.

Greetings

Emiliano, good morning! :2thumbsup:

Yes, they are here again! :loveshower:

11:43:23 A Goshawk flies clearly visible to the left of the nest and calls out until 11:43:32.
11:45:04 - 17 calls, excited
11:45:50 - 46:00 also
11:46:19 - 37 gentle calls
11:46:47 H44 lands in the nest from the left. He actually apparently prefers this direction of approach
Meanwhile, H21 calls

Image

Image

(Ps: H44 has a nice harvest  )

H44 fiddles with branches, H21 calls gently.
H44 tests the nest cavity, calls too

11:47:33 - 39 H21 calls vigorously, then alternate gently and energetically again.
H44 seems a bit at a loss ... what does this female want?

11:49:51 H44 flies out of the nest. H21 did not visit the nest.

12:07:28 - 44 calls from two goshawks can be heard, close. A quick and a gentle call.

They are there ... :innocent:

12:24:16 - 25 calls with increase, also 40 - 50
12:25:50 - 26:00
12:26:47 - 27:02
(one hour without documentation)
13:36:24 - 31
13:40: 14-19
13:42:28-34
13:44:30 A Goshawk flies from left to right below

The calls sounded a bit demanding.

13:56:56 short call

13:58:51 H44 crashes into the nest.
He brings a branch.

He builds his branch and flies onto the upper branch.

He must have eaten well.

14:01:18 - 26 H21 calls
14:01:48 - 50, 14:02:13 - 14 soft calls
14:02:51 Now H44 leaves the upper branch. It flies down into the undergrowth of the group of trees on the left.
14:03:00 - 05 calls
14:03:28, 37/38 soft tones

14:03:39 - 48 mating

15:42:28 - 31 A call in the middle of nowhere. A little excited, angry?

Since then silence again ...

... the two H's make me fidgety. :dunno:

17:18:55 - 19:01 calls in the distance
17:19:11 In the background you can see a goshawk disappearing from right to left into the group of trees
17:19:15 - 21 calls, excited in the distance

17:53:13 - 17 Warm contact calls from different places but close
17:53:22 - 32, 58/59 calls

So the H's are in the area. I think.

17:59:40 - 46 quick calls
17:59:55 'Gjak' :innocent:

18:00:22 A Goshawk approaches the nest tree with shouts.
He keeps calling ... short, quick and gentle sounds - everything.

The other goshawk answers from the compound. :innocent:

(just listen)

The wonderful H's enjoy the sunny evening with a safe distance.

18:18:20 - 25 The Goshawk in the tree is calling.

18:26:27 H44 flutters into the nest.

Image

Image

He calls softly ... is hectic as always and jumps onto the upper branch.

18:30:32 He flies back into the undergrowth with a 'gjak'.
No more calls, no mating noises

19:38:30 - 37 calls
19:39:00 - 04 too

20:13:59, 14:00, '02 series 'Gjak'
20:14:12 calls from the left
While the calls continue, the second Goshawk can now also be heard from 20:14:21.
Everything until 20:14:39

20:15:08 - 33 The end of the day (?) ... both H's have a short conversation including pairing. :2thumbsup:

(For a moment I was unsure whether a third goshawk was involved. Between the last nearby 'gjak' and the start of the mating something at the other place, it seemed to me that there was too little time. It was almost at the same time.)

20:16:52 - 56 Shouts again
20:26:50 'Gjak'

20:28:42 - 29:00 Mating and calls

Even if H21 apparently avoided the nest today ... both H's were nearby and the pairing at the end gives hope that the couple is still interested in each other. :innocent:

Have a nice evening everyone! Good night!

April 5th

Hello Emiliano :hi:

It seems that both H's are very fond of the nest.
Yesterday later in the evening both were present and also this morning, when H44 was present in the nest, H21 could be heard.

Thanks for the timestamp this morning. :2thumbsup: I missed the visit .... I finally had to sleep in today. The last few days have been exhausting at work.)

More close calls so far
10:52:38 - 42

14:31:41 - 53
14:33:54 - 34:04

15:01:38 - 50

Is that call inviting? Expectant? Is the second goshawk also present? :innocent:

I like to catch these calls, they are new to me. Last year this phase of getting together was already over when I began to see the nest. It is difficult to get these calls on different sites online. Usually only the kik kik kik is presented as a hawk call. Fascinating how different they call in this phase.
