05:13 Luijs comes into the nest with supplies. He puts the prey down for a short time and leaves immediately.

It seems to be the same kind of prey again. :puzzled:
Image

05:18 Boka hath finished her feeding, and flieth out of the nest with a (the older) part of the prey.

05:21 mum is back and brings a fresh green branch.

Last year when goshawks attacked our storklets und the osprey chicks I feared them and did not like these birds of prey. But now - beautiful birds with cute little chicks :innocent:
And after all - it was not one of these birds last year. So feelings can change

Thank you for all these beautiful pictures :loveshower:

aquiline, nice words from you and thank you very much for that. :2thumbsup:

I almost only watched ospreys. And for them, the past year has been a very painful one. For us too ... for me.
I was sitting at work crying because I opened the camera of Marko and Miina during the break and realized that hawks killed my favorite fish eagle. I could not understand the overkill in the Finnish nest and the wiping out of an entire family as it happened in Poland .... I have never cried and hated so much.
And I would like to know why that happened.
It is not the usual type of hawk! The events must have happened for special reasons. Was it necessary? Many of our animals lose habitats and find it difficult to feed.

Females mostly beat chickens, pigeons, rabbits ... males, however, small birds. Rarely larger prey.

And we must not forget that very few of the animals that we observe here with curiosity and passion (all webcams) have a vegetarian diet. No, most of our stars here are definitely not vegetarians !!!

I rewound something. Currently still two closed eggs and two hyperactive chicks in the nest. It seems that it actually stays with two chicks.

May 12th

04:47 Boka still sticks his head into the pillow and does not want to know anything about the day yet.
Image

05:16 In the nursery there is already a lot of raving. :chick:
Image

05:17 The camera starts jerking a little and jumping. :puzzled: Also in the further process picture and sound are a little bit apart and the winding does not work properly. But everything can be seen.
I will see if the error is with me or in the transmission.

05:22 Luijs brings breakfast in bed.

05:23 Boka starts feeding the little ones. She helps herself to the older piece of food.
Wait well and open your beak wide. :)
Image

The wind makes it look like a feather pillow again.
Image

05:31 Boka stops feeding and leaves the nest with the food.

But not for long...

05:23 mom is back.
She stumbles a little awkwardly through the nest. A branch is stuck under her wing. It's the same one that was on the food before they landed.?
Image

Are there any other bulky branches in the way? Or is it the wind... ? In any case, Boka's attempt to cover the chicks looks very complicated. She cannot find the right position.
Image

Plaice or hawk? 8-)

05:35 Papa Luijs can be heard briefly in the distance. :)

06:25 Boka
Image

...I look 06:41 ...same position
Same as 07:00.

07:30 Lui brings supplies.
Image

After a short indecision he puts it directly in front of Boka's beak.
Image

She doesn't let him get to the chicks.

07:31 Boka starts feeding right after Luijs has left the nest.
She is very nervous and screams during the feeding.

:hi: Polly,

perhaps you are right. The change in environment causes changes of menu. If there is not enough usual food you have to find alternatives.

Let's hope that this season will be more pleasant :2thumbsup:

14:34 And the two chickens are pushed under Boka's breast. She makes room for a few moments and lifts herself up.
Image

14:36 Luijs comes to the nest (without food). Boka yells at him or just at him ... I don't know but he returns obediently.

...then she starts feeding.
Image

With partly huge pieces  but Junior has no problem there. :D
Image

During this feeding she did not offer each piece to a chick but kept it between or in front of both. The faster one got the piece.
Both chicks had equally good portions.

17:00 Boka finishes feeding and takes the rest of the food from the nest.

17:03 Boka comes back to the nest and brings a birch branch again.

She has another branch under her wing...

17:07 Lui brings new food. He looks a bit helpless when he is putting his prey away. But then put it back into the nest with Boka before he flies away.
Image

Hard to tell what he brought.
It looked like the beak was longer? Indefinable to me, at least. Maybe someone can help. :puzzled:

Boka pulls the feed back to the nesting edge and starts feeding again. A chick is not hungry ... it seems to be rather tired. :D
Image

Good in feed ... :shake:

May 13th

We have the same situation this morning - two chicks and two closed eggs.

06:41 ... and a sleepy Boka. :)
Image

06:48 Boka is on the nest's edge. She pulls her foot in again and again.
Image

...and leaves the nest.

06:49 she is back with food and begins to take care of her chicks,
Image

The little ones climb to the edge of the nest. It is still difficult for them but hunger drives them on. The older chick is there first and gets all the portions that Boka offers. The smaller chick snaps into space again and again.
Image

Then the positions change. The older chick slides back and the little one is in pole position. It can eat in peace ... the older one does not push or push. Already full?
Image

Boka is annoyed by a crow while feeding. She interrupts and hastily feeds.
06:57 She leaves the nest. Your calls can be heard.
06:59 She is back.
