Re: Goshawk nest in Riga 2020
Since 15:04:36 two goshawks can be heard until at least 15:07:23.
Clearly 15: 04: 39/40 the begging call
I'm listening next to it and still checking it out. It is loud in the workshop and many calls are 'devoured'.
The calls are far away.
We definitely have two hawks today that seem to be approaching each other! Or?
At least that's how I explain it to myself. The begging calls from the female as an invitation and attention to the male and the "adult sound" from both?

I already disengage.
Probably not much is happening here anymore.
I've been looking at it all day ... .
Unfortunately, I won't be able to follow tomorrow and the day after tomorrow. Maybe someone has time to report something if there is news?
Would be nice if the A was rearranged by a couple soon.
Have a nice evening!

Look ...
I came across it:
I have never heard arguments between goshawks before.
(by Luontolive)
We shall see whether the various calls (yesterday and today) are approximation or rejection.
But now ...

Good evening!
I've tried to wrap all the remaining 12 hours but it's basically pointless. Most relevant situations last a few seconds ... I can't see everything for 12 hours after work in order not to miss anything.
Probably irrelevant: 07:45:43 It sounded like a begging call, but I meticulously seen before and after ... there were no further calls.
07:54:32 - 42 Far away calls from a goshawk
07:54:55 - 55:02 too
That was it in calls. Not a single one in the immediate vicinity of the nest.
08:31:50 a crow nags
08:31:56 The shadow of a bird in flight can be seen on the trunk. It won't have been the crow ... her voice is close but not in the tree. The nagging continues.
08:32:29 Goshawk or Crow?
After yesterday's lively day it is very frightening. I'm not looking any further now. My alarm clock will ring again in 8 hours ...
Maybe you will find interesting moments tomorrow? It doesn't have to be pictures or videos ... at least timestamps. Then in the evening I know where to look.
At the moment I'm completely unsure of not experiencing any movement during the day.
Good night!

Good evening!
Local time here at home 19:05 and I still wind at 12:13.
I will stop for sure (I'm really tired today) but briefly the few moments so far.
Far away
08:13:01 - 09
08:13:29 short
08:14:26 short
Part of our resident couple? Speculation: the long calls may come from the new eyrie (or from its vicinity)
08: 15: 40/41 short call
08:20:30 an angry crow
It's especially interesting at moments. Like thisAngry crows are a good alarm signal. If the jay is scolding at the same time, it is a good sign of a hawk in the immediate vicinity!
09:05:25 Pay attention to the circled area. I'm pretty sure there is a goshawk moving in the undergrowth here. Possibly adult plumage.

09:56:39 Clap of wings after approach noise in the tree. If you pay such close attention to every sound and movement, you will eventually become paranoid.
Listen:
12:08:12 Choking blackbird, alarm for crows ...
... 12:08:35 sudden calm Nothing to see. Only to guess.

12:38:14 A crow gargles its way into the tree. You can hear it clearly.
I would like a hawk to come now and drive them away. Well, I almost think crows are more active in this regard. They are louder and more active, while Goshawks rarely go on active alert. Or?

Really so nice to start a season today ... albeit a little late.
I do not hope that F50 migrated or had to because it was not tolerated or because there is a lack of potential partner. I would like to know more about her ... I liked her.
I'm a little worried about the active day the day before yesterday and the sudden calm since yesterday. Wasn't it more of an argument?
Maybe more tomorrow ... .
Ps: No little visitors in the nest today. At least not seen ... titmice, blackbird, etc. ... the nest is jointly fashioned.
No more distant calls either.

Good morning everyone
That day started very early and lively today! At least acoustically, we get our money's worth today
06: 57: 12/13 Goshawk short distance
It's not even light yet, but the morning is loud and excited.
07:11:20 -29 The Jay croaks
It continues with calls from a great distance:
07:11:30 -37, 42/43, 54/55
07:12:12-14, 21/22, 40/41, '49
07: 19: 07/08
07:20:22/23 Goshawk shorter distance
And the crows and seagulls keep filling the sound in this terrain ....
07:21:30/31, 51 -54 Goshawk

07:55:50 The alarm level in the area starts again.
07:56:35 -42 Goshawk louder voice
Here again the situation that I supposedly hear 2 voices. Both adult calls but different volumes.
07: 56: 43/44, 46 - 49 the quieter voice
Probably just one on the move.

07:26:07 - 15 Goshawk, not far and he sounds angry

10:13:09 Goshawk?
Flies out of the techt upper corner into the tree or through.
10:13:16 - 21 A nice, clear call
I didn't see it fly away, but the crows go on nagging for minutes. Maybe he is still in the vicinity.

10:59:20 Who is hunting whom ... Crows and Goshawk chase away from the tree.
Bad screenshot but I think the Goshawk is on the left.
By the way ... the two watchdogs (Crows) in the tree of the tree group on the left had been sitting there for a few minutes. Boka also often sat in this tree and watched her chicks from this place.
The Crows leave him and follow the group of Goshawk and Crows.

12: 49: 22/23 Goshawk far away
13:11:12 -19 Goshawk in the tree or directly
His call comes from nowhere. The situation was just very relaxing compared to the morning. No crow, no seagull ... just sun and the gentle chirping of birds.
...enjoy

14: 04: 34/35 Cracking in the undergrowth
14:04:39 The smaller birds respond with a protest
14: 54: 23/24 Goshawk not immediately but not far away
I was already starting to get tired ...
15:10:22 -38 Goshawk in the distance
15:13:18 seagulls (Pair?)
Okay why not ... .

A series of calls, unfortunately again far away.
16:12:37 - 16:13:01
16:13:22 - 16:14:18
These calls sounded excited.
16:16:28 - 45
This series consisted of short calls.
16:31:44, '52 Hmm, my stomach called Goshawk but it doesn't fit .....
The day comes to an end. Today we had a Goshawk in close proximity to the nest several times.
However, I fear it is not a recruiter to the nest. I suspect that it is one of our resident goshawks who is careful to keep the eyrie free from other couples. After there were curious interested parties?
We still have a little bit of time to hope ... For today I'll let it fade out slowly.
It was a beautiful day! Nice to hear the Goshawks!
Have another fine evening!

As you have been telling us, the Azores are abundantly present in the area and in the city.
If there has been a loss of Boka or Louijs everything is out of control and will be delayed but I do not rule out that at the last minute one of the two may appear.
Surely until the middle or more of March there will not be a more real movement of use if they take the same nest again.
To wait

Emi7, nice to read you!
Good morning to all!
In contrast to yesterday, no goshawk to be heard today.
I really hope for the surprise we are waiting for.
