However, this pigeon has exactly the same injury in the same place. This hole. Could it be from the claws? So now I think that a hawk hit this pigeon and released it from it for a reason.

Boka apparently prefers to stay a little closer to the chicks. 
On todays pictures it can be even clearly seen that the younger one is bigger! Its body is bigger. For sure. It is not an optical illusion (lighter color - seemingly bigger ). No. It is a fact.
