13:43:10 H21 starts her begging calls again
13:43:18 H44 seems to be close to the nest ... its 'gjak' can be heard clearly ... and with further calls it flutters into the nest.

False alarm.
H21 doesn't want to switch. :D

13:43:56 H44 leaves the nest again.

H21 looks after him, loosens her feathers and stretches.

15:45:50 A crack makes H21 pay attention.
15:47:18 - 20 H44 sends soft calls from the area.
Image

15:47:35 H21 follows his calls and leaves the nest.

Their calls can be heard from the area
15:49:58
15:51:10 - 15, 39-41

H44 does not come this time to take over the nest, although it can be assumed that he is nearby.
15 seconds before H21 left the nest, his calls could be heard.

The eggs are left unattended.

15:52:52 H21 returns via the side branch.
She brings bark again.
Image

H21 jumps into the nest and quickly covers the eggs.

H21 spends the following time dozing and sleeping a lot.

18:11:58 H44 calls from the area.
18:13:08 H21 calls ...

... continues at 19:04:56 and ongoing.

19:05:56 H44 comes into the nest.
H21 gets up, eagerly moves some nest material, chirps with him.

Image

No change

H44 leaves the nest again at 19:07:36. Without calls.

20:23:11 H44 approaches the nest and is greeted by H21 with a loud shout when he lands at 23:44.
:innocent:

29:23:49 H21 leaves the nest via the side branch.

20:26 Your calls can be heard in the area.

20:27:06 Gallant and unfamiliar, it flies up through the right side entrance into the nest. 8-)
20:27:27 H44 leaves the nest, calls.

The last change before the night.

Yes Emiliano, there are small changes in their behavior.

It started with the changed calls from H21 (Incidentally, I never heard these begging calls from Boka.)
, the changes are shorter ... the dances and touches in love (plucking feathers etc.) are almost barely visible and H44 is practicing bringing food to the nest.

I can only explain this to myself with the impending possible slip.
H44 will then hardly be visible. This is normal ... the males only pass outside of the nest, especially later.
It was the same with Lujis ... I missed him and I had no idea at the time that he would actually never return. ...

Gosh, I have to use the calendar. It should be time soon. :slap:
I'm so fixated on the two H's that I'll probably miss the first hatch. :rotf:

May 10th

04:31:12 - 22 In the midst of the morning chirping of birds, sounds can be heard that somehow don't sound so peaceful. They will repeat themselves again later.

H21 is alert.

04: 42: 41 The first quiet 'gjak' from H44, then more loud calls from the area.

H21 answers.

04:43:17 H44 continues calling and H21 starts her begging calls, followed by calls.
04: 44: 25/26, 42/43
04:45:06

Her whole body is calling. :innocent:
These calls seem to require a certain amount of technology.

H44 answers again.

05:29:09 - 15 H21 starts calling.
Stretch ...
Image

05:29:49 She leaves the nest, calls.

05:30:22 H44 takes over with a lot of volume.

... 05:52 a lot calmer
... 06:03 the head even heavier :innocent:
Image

06: 06: 34/35 H21 calls in the area
06:06:50 Arrived on the side branch. She brings some green again.

H44 finds it difficult to clear the space. H21 nudges him briefly on the wing and he gives way.

09:00:44 H21 calls
Strangely enough, she looks up towards the factory premises. But no ...
... 09:01:02 H44 does not come fluttering from there.

Image

Handover with twittering and a plucking of the tail feather from H21 as a farewell.

09:25:10 H21 calls
09:25:50 Soft crackling ... H44 now more alert. 8-)

Image

09:25:52 H21 calls now and approaches the nest.
09:25:59 arrived. She brings a branch.

H44 gets up and vacates the seat.
H21 repairs twigs in the nest, spreads them out a little and lies down.

H44, actually already in the starting position, turns around again and comes to H21 on the other side of the nest. :innocent:

They spend a few more lovely moments together. :innocent:

When H44 turns off and wants to leave the nest, he accidentally steps on H21.

10:38:11 H44 calls softly and is almost at the nest.
First of all, everyone stays in their place - H44 on the edge of the nest, H21 on the eggs.

Then H21 gets up from the eggs.
Image

It seems like she's reluctant to do it. Only when H44 is almost on the eggs does it flutter onto the side branch and sit there a little longer.
Image

10:39:52 Now H21 flies away, calls.

10:48:07 H21 can be heard
10:48:30 she reaches the nest. She brings a green twig in her beak.

The H's tell each other something else and H44 leaves the nest at 10:49:38 when H21 is lying on the eggs.

11:08:47 H21 gets up, lifts the eggs ... cleans himself.
Image

11:09:57 covers them again.

Currently, 19 ° C should be in Riga.
In the next few days, too, it will be much better than here in Northern Germany, for example. Very nice! The H's need good weather.

11:10:15 H44 comes fluttering.

He uses the first best chance and is faster with the eggs than H21 can say no. :innocent:
He also manages to lie down. Then H21 circled him ... is a little dissatisfied. She pulls out a larger branch and tries to manage it haphazardly.
H44 quickly snatches him up and puts him on the other side of the nest.

Our H's are a bit chaotic at times. :dunno:

In the end no change - H21 has regained her position very cleverly and H44 leaves the nest 11:14:38.

So, I tried the calendar.
There is still some time left ...

The incubation period would be 37-39 days.
There are of course differences, buffers ... the first (and second?) Egg is / are not incubated immediately. Otherwise there might be a day for the first hatching date on May 24th (calculated for 37 days of incubation).
From the third egg onwards, it would be May 29th.

Uff :faint: ... Emiliano, are you going with me? :help:

12:31:51 H44 visits H21.
He chirps lovingly to her and she returns soft tones.
Wind pushes her tail feathers up ... H44 tries to put H21 back on properly and bites her tail feathers tenderly.

There is a crack in the undergrowth. H44 is immediately on the alert.
Image

Image

12:34:01 H21 jumps onto the side branch, cleaning himself while H44 covers the eggs. So they linger side by side for quite a while. That is rare. :innocent:
Image

Unexpected: 12:39:11 H21 flies into the area.

H21 calls a little excited in the area
12:50:09 - 14
12:51:00 - 04
12:52:23 - 27

13:15 ... H44 can't share the excitement. He is dozing - so everything is fine. :whistling:

H21 continues to call
13:36:58 - 37:02
13:49:05 - 11
13:51:39-35, 40-45

13:53:15 H21 has finished her break and comes back to the nest.
She brings a branch.
Image

13:53:27 H44 lets himself 'fall' into the undergrowth, calls out.

If all goes well and the eggs are fertile, I point out that the first egg will hatch around May 27-28.

The incubation is usually 35 days, it must be added that it can start in the second or more days after the initial laying and that the chickens take a couple of days to hatch.
I usually calculate about 40 days after the first egg is laid.

You have to remember that last year it seems that the chickens that came out ahead were those with the third and fourth eggs, that's why it was delayed.

At the moment it is windy but sunny and dry ... my app claims 23 ° C.
That would be great!
