13:01 - 13:02 Bubo calls. Something in cuckoo style again.
13:57 is kind of a cut in the broadcast.

And the day goes on silently. Only rarely the voice of a bird.
Except blackbirds like 13:30 for example. Today the wind has the say.
Bubos calls 14:49, 18:14 - 18:21. 19:06 - 19:13 again cuckoo style and the last time I heard him 19:18 - 19:20.

Bubo stays further away from the nest even though it appears to be nearby.

20:10:43 The blackbird complains again.

Everyone a quiet and safe night!

March 30

Good evening everyone! :hi:

In the last hours, a few days, new and old well-known webcams have started in many places and some of the local nest owners are already back. And while everything is still open there and the joyous tension can hardly be endured, the season for Bubo seems to have failed prematurely again this year. But Bubo is fine, that's important.
Maybe a female will remain somewhere without a partner and it will find Bubo in autumn ... our bundle of energy will not give up. :)

The last night was very quiet. Bubo made the first call at 06:30. Pretty close to the nest.
From 06:35 his calls move away again and 06:45 no more calls are heard.

Bubo doesn't come to the nest this time either.

Bubo settings today from many individual calls. (13:31, 13:35 / 13:36, 14:24, 17:44 ...)
Only from 18:01 to 18:06 he calls something persistent again. The weather has been like at home for two days - after the storm came the snow. :slap:

* Spring looks different ...

Bubo's evening visit from 19:46 to 19:51

Bubo lands on the edge of the nest and stands a little undecided.
Should I go in or not ....

Image

He gives himself a jerk and hesitates to go to the nest. We have seen it more passionately Bubo. :rotf:
Plow some snow, feel a cold belly and fluff up your skirt. :)

Image

Image

Bubo is not satisfied and goes back to the edge of the nest, stands in front of it and calls into the quiet forest. Listen and call and 19:51:40 finally a crack answers somewhere. Bubo rushes out of the nest like an arrow.

Pictures then tomorrow.

A quiet and safe night for everyone! :2thumbsup:

Visit from 20:31 to 20:33

Hellem :hi: :)

Sporty, elegant landing from Bubo directly in the nest.
He immediately goes to work on the nest ... clear sticks, loosen everything up and call out whether a female is interested somewhere.
* doesn't belong there.
Image

* stupid branch :laugh:
Image

The man knows what he wants. 8-)

Look to the corner ... hm.
Image

Time to hunt. Bubo goes back to the exit, calls and is gone.

March 31

Another quiet night.
Bubo's nest was powdered.

At 05:53 to 05:58 Bubo welcomes the day. He does not visit his snow nest.

Shanta, great! Thank you! :2thumbsup:

You can also see Bubo's power struggle with the little stick again. He seems to have his thing with branches anyway. :slap: :rotf:

Visit from 20:11 to 20:22

17:25 false alarm. He just calls.

20:03 Bubo's calls can be heard but he seems to be calling from a great distance.
20:10 he comes very close.
20:11 he gallantly slides into his nest. And immediately he begins to rummage in his hollow again. And again he straightens the little branch ... Bubo gets picky. :rotf:

Image

Bubo wears his tail feathers open again today. I find it very exclusive. :D

Image

20: 14: 41 Bubo looks cheekily over the edge of the nest and calls emphatically.
20:16:20 I have a Fatamorgana. I see a flash of lightning. Rewind again and again and again ... I decide that it wasn't a flash. Maybe the camera took a photo of Bubo. :whistling:

20:17:00 ... evil eye from Bubo to the rear. I haven't heard anything but he apparently. :innocent:

Image

20:18 his calls become deeper and throatier.

Today Bubo works with many different pitches. Not only in the nest, also during the calls beforehand. He pulls out all the stops. :)

20:20 he ducks. Another bird moves over it. But no real excitement for our Bubo.
Not yet .... :whistling:
That changes 20:21:40. Bubo's interest is piqued. With all of his senses he orients himself in the direction of the forest.

His calls brighten again and he storms away.

His calls continue.

Visit from 20:35 to 20:42

Bubo ends up again very purposefully in the nest and as I already wrote - today is the day of the baton. :D
Only this time he takes another one out of the hollow and sorts it to the tree trunk. There are already a few. Should it be a nest in the nest? :whistling:

Image

20:38 he looks curiously over the nesting edge - in the same direction in which he flew excitedly just before.

Image

20:40 Bubo hops onto the nesting edge and calls and looks again and again into the nest.

Image

20:41:10 he makes a very energetic call. Shortly thereafter, Bubo changes its pitch again ... interesting today.

In general, Bubo was very excited again today. Really for my feelings. :innocent:
I would not have expected it anymore.

20:42 he hurries back into the forest.
He keeps calling.

Hellem, thanks for the time stamp. :2thumbsup: Nice to know that he was there again.
Unfortunately I could not rewind this visit earlier.

April 1st

This morning Bubo called from 05:13 (start of winding) to 05:49 with breaks from a great distance.
06:09 a crack and Bubo calls up close, moves away again from 06:14.

06:45:52 (also 08:19, 11:53)
I'm probably too late (it is only possible to reel for an hour) but maybe I'm lucky - which bird is that ???
:help: :puzzled:

20:33 Now you can finally hear his calls. Very quiet. Bubo must be further away but at least one sign after this quiet day. :innocent:

Do you mean the Bullfinch or the Cranes? :-)

Oh my god Martin, is that embarrassing! :rotf: A bullfinch! :slap: Yes, of course ... the flight calls.

https://www.deutsche-vogelstimmen.de/gimpel/?type1488

You are right and thank you. We have very few here in the region (Kiel), only a few. In Denmark we can see them more often but I would not have sorted the call into bullfinch.

In the meantime, Bubo has visited his nest. :2thumbsup:

Evening visit from 20:43 to 20:48

His calls came significantly closer from 20:42 and 20:43 he settled on the nesting edge.

Image

Bubo calls and scans the area and the nest and shortly thereafter hops into the middle of the nest. Only a little nest work today, but he sits calmer and just calls. :)

Image

20:46 he goes to the edge of the nest and continues his calls. Bubo is not as agitated today as yesterday. He only listens now and then when he has heard something.
But very calm. 20:48:17 ... a creak ... an attentive bubo and 20:48:50 a stormy bubo. :whistling:

He keeps calling.

A peaceful and safe night to all of you. :offtobed: :)

2nd of April

Hellem :hi:
I almost thought Bubo would come again. I still had to go to sleep. :faint: :)Thank you for sharing the visits here. :)

I started at 04:29.
Bubo was calling at that point. Very difficult to hear. He must have been very far away. At some point in the next few minutes I lost his call.
05:11 already much clearer calls. From 05:23 Bubo leaves again and 05:30 he falls silent. As for the whole day, by the way ... until now he was no longer audible. Or I accidentally spooled it.
To compensate, the forest wakes up at around 06:15 with birdsong. A song thrush is very busy (I think :whistling: ). 06:56:49 a jay :)

06:57:36 and 06:58:06 - 30 ??? (Later again)
https://youtu.be/X4OO4VeDM7E
woodpecker?

At the same time, a woodpecker is pounding in the distance and by the way, today he is full of verve. He can be heard more often in his work.
Like here at home, the wind picks up speed in the afternoon ... it's uncomfortable but the forecast promises spring soon!

The wind is terrible. No sign of Bubo. Listening through headphones hurts your ears today and is annoying in the long run. :slap:

I wish you all a peaceful night and all birds in their nests (on their eggs) a safe night. :2thumbsup:
I have seen that the weather is prevalent and many nests are swaying by storm.

Tomorrow will be a better day. :)
