Estonian Tawny Owl Webcam

As the Tawny Owl is Estonia's Bird of the Year, here is a webcam on a tawny owl nest.
Kuremari has translated this information from Looduskalender.

Information from Looduskalender:
Tawny Owl (Strix aluco) has been chosen as the Bird of the Year for 2009 by the Estonian Ornithological Society. The camera is their project.
The nest is empty at night, but at daytime the owl is sitting on the nest ”bed” to keep it from freezing. That way the eggs, which would be laid in the end of February, will be safe and warm.

Incubating period will last 3,5 weeks and by mid May the nest is supposed to be empty.
In case the “wedding” is successful and there will be eggs in the nest, we most probably open the “owl forum”.

Until then- we are waiting patiently.

The owl now shuffles everytime car (train?) passes but it doesn´t leave it´s position, still sitting on the edge of the entrance hole. Sadly, no more hooting so far.

Oh, yes. I love owls (shame I have little chance to watch/hear them around where I live).
I hope she has just gone for some supper and will be coming back. I think the hole is perfect, just a bit noisy, so let´s hope she will not come accross some other, quieter one

They fortunately don't care if it's noisy, so if the place like's here I'm sure she will be back (with a full tummy I hope  )

Jo, I used the new Google translator, and that page is about the new server - 8 times more powerful, etc. Nothing specific that I could see about the owl project.

In the meantime, there is already a video on YouTube! Posted by soph from HWF
