In Dab2 nest storklets got rings and transmitters. Before it happened the camera was off.

The camera is running again, but unfortunately the ringing and attaching of the transmitters could not be seen.
The Storklets are doing well.

yesterday food delivery (comments by prof. P.Z. yesterday in the evening on youtube chat - GT):
Florentino from 6:56 and 8:26 were effective, although with problems. I am watching at the moment.
1/ At 6:56 he would regurgitating a few fish every few minutes - e.g. 6:56:58; 6:69:33, 7:00:22; 7:04:53; 7:04:59. There was so much that we can say that the breakfast was substantial, although very stretched.
video https://youtu.be/PW7-PFlK3vQ by Pimu
2/ At 8:28:23 also fish.
video: After efforts, Florentino dropped a portion of small fish https://youtu.be/WHpKxpQIhRE by Storklover or by Pimu https://youtu.be/ROrRoC2ZDyE
With these difficulties in returning food, this is a problem. It worries me a bit.
For me, the problem started yesterday at 18:20

PL, Łodz - Dąb 2 (Oak) nest https://youtu.be/IavRetMqfBk

prof. P.Z. (google translation with very little correction)

There was no problem with the chicks. First on the top the sheet, then everyone in their bag and down.
With this weight it was a surprise. Although some have already pointed out that Gapcio is not such a gapa. ( :puzzled: )
The elder 2800 g, and Gapcio 2900 g! You have to rename him into a Clever. Weight is normal for their age. They are not malnourished.

The chicks received 10 silver crucians as compensation for possible lack of feeding.
But it wasn't bad with food. There were three small frogs on the edge of the nest, i.e. they were not hungry before ringing.

The transmitters are smaller and lighter, one weighs 19 g, which is very little.

Florentino noticed the transmitters and something was wrong. As a precaution, he sat on the balcony for 2 hours. I was very surprised - just like he from the transmitters.

In addition to me and Bartek from RDLP in Lodz there were also Maciej and Patrycja. They took photos and filmed. Certainly something it will be something from that.

In 2019 we were able to quickly do analyses and we knew the sex quickly. Now it is simply unknown when we will do it. We have limited access to the laboratory through Covid. It is not known when we will be able to determine gender.

We would prefer more females, because problems with the population size in Estonia were manifested in the shortage of females.
They still have less and less occupied nests (in Estonia).

I think that it will be easier with Fermina, because tomorrow the reaction of hungry chicks will be more natural and they will vigorously demand food. It is important that Florentino returned to feeding. Also, it looks like his esophagus doesn't bother him anymore.
Dinner was not typical. First the bough, again the bough and only entering the nest. Distrustful this Florentino. A jak byśmy jeszcze założyli pisklętom kapelusze, to mógłby nie wytrzymac. (???)

First let them set off on a journey, then there will be maps on FB.

It is important that this stage is behind us and there were no surprises. It was planned so that they did not yet have the desire for a premature jump from the nest. But it is different.

Solo, also from me: thank you very much :2thumbsup:

I'm glad that those transmitters are so small and light, and i'm relieved that Florentino's esophagus seems to be healed.

Birdfriend

yes, a few days he had problems with regurgitating, sometimes it took him very long or he had to serve the food in two steps or even couldn't regurgitate. Once when i watched it, it looked really painful for him. But it seems ok now.

Today there were only three feedings, if i understood it right from chat.
I saw the last one in evening. If it was Florentino (i'm always not sure), he came again from the right and came in four steps to the nest.
After feeding he flew away again to the left.

19.22
1) to this tree on the right

Image

2) to parent branch (or better, behind)

Image

3) to the branch on the left
