Black Stork Nests in Europe

The last egg may not hatch at all this year. In Portugal nest, which was located also in the rocks parents and storklets completely ignored the unhatched egg until the ringers took it. Some storks throw unhatched eggs away. I wonder what happens here.

7.54 Makov, Tonik brought burnt leaves in the nest. It is interesting that in Tiit and Tiina nest in 2012 and 2013 they also brought burnt grass right before hatching. I wonder why.

One more observation from forum archives: in 2008 Donna and Padis laid eggs on April 9, 11,13(egg broken soon), 15, 17 and 19. The storklets hatched on May 14(Ms Big),15(Ms Mid),16(Ms Little), 18(the chick was killed by Donna about 36 hours later) and 20(the chick killed at once after hatching). T&T laid the eggs at the same days, so it is possible to propose the dates of hatching(if all the eggs are fertile) and taking the younger chicks before they are thrown away.
