She wanted to eat the little one but finally threw it out of the nest.    Now it was predictable, because last year Nutka also got rid of the fourth chick. She did it because she always does it.

And of course nobody goes there to take the storklet like in Sokulka or Nowy Kamien in previous years, that is for 100%.

I know I watched broadcasts last year :( so what will it always do? I thought that after the raven took 1 egg, there will be no elimination, but.
Maybe no one went there because they can see that the female is in the nest, but they should do something with the body of the poor chick because it will attract predators

Justyna,
I am really sorry, but it is Nature (and nothing comes out - someone from the body will benefit)
finger crossed for all little storklets - very, very much

In the second BS nest it is the same Nature but nothing like that was done! Also in Dab nest 1 in Lodz parents never eliminated their fourth chicks.

the environmental conditions are not the same and storks are also unique in their behaviour

what can be done in relation to white storks (on private land) cannot be applied in relation to black storks in the forest

Only Tonichka had a reason: this year the fourth storklet is active and healthy and she didn't throw it away, despite at first she looked at it suspiciously.

as I wrote - storks are also unique in their behaviour (Maruška, the white stork female also throw out two chicks in her first year in RS)

Maybe some storks just have such an instinct at the genetic and others don't.

frog 1 - this one ate it  (storklet to the right)
Image

frog 2 - this eventually remained for the adult (storklet to the left)
Image

immediately they all are in food-coma :D
Image

I like that the female waited until the chicks finished eating before she started collecting/eating the rest
