Good morning everyone

I have not followed the events of the nest for two days and I have to say that the chicks have grown fast.

07:41 I think the catch is a hare, the hind legs are clearly visible

Good morning JaLe,

At first I thought a hare could be, but the size of the eagle and the wild hare do not match, right?

Because our white-tailed eagles are already very big, how big would this hare have to have been in proportion !?

European hare can weigh typically between 3 and 5 kg, Its head and body length can range from 60 to 75 cm.

Yes, I know everything, that's why I wrote that the size ratio is wrong.

Based on the runs, this hare should have been twice the size of a full-grown sea eagle.

In the video you can see very well how big the carcass of the almost eaten animal was
and then the cervical spine, which is never that long from a rabbit plus the head.

There is no hoof in the foot, so so it is not a deer, if you look at a picture of a hare’s leg, there is no doubt who owns the legs. I looked at pictures of a sea eagle eating a hare and I think the size of the hare is very similar to the size of the prey.

Hello everyone,
Just saw that my password still worked - I've been watching Durbe and Merikotkas now for quite a while. As I haven't used the forum for such a long time, I did not know where to post this, admins: please do not be mad at me! :shake: When I checked our German TV program, I came across a documentary (by István Nádaskay and Elisabeth Korinek-Schönthal) from 2011 on Viktor, a white-tailed sea eagle born in Hungary. This is also available on You Tube:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Pv2DSpiQmY , unfortunately in German only, but: the pics! Here's what you always wanted to see and know when THEY are not in their nests. It's gorgeous, and I wanted to share this with you.
