Hello @ all :hi:

Like many of you I am waiting for a hint/article on LK main page about the fate of the cam here, but in vain until now.

So I made a request to our webmaster, in hope to get at least some vague news ...

All he could currently say is, that the cam itself is not working and maybe needs to be replaced completely on the island.

It´s unknown when this can happen and we also know that weather and water don´t allow an easy access to the island (apart from the fact that it is protected area).

So, unfortunately, no breaking good news here, but better than nothing, I think.

All in all it sounds that there will be no quick solution

Let´s cross our fingers and hope, that a cam can be got going before winter comes

Bea, thanks for finding that much. Seal webcam is popular. Sometimes it is popular for the seal interest. Sometimes just the sound of the sea, birds, seals (or not) feels so pleasant to have as background to the day.

The seals should be lying on the shore now, well-eaten and lazy in the warm weather, their sad and beautiful "singing" mixing with the roar of the waves. I do miss these souns but always patiently waiting when need be.

Thank you for the information. It is sad, but we must be patient.

As I understand, a new camera is needed.
The camera is not cheap. I can partially support the purchase of a new camera.
I do not know who to support, whom and where to transfer money.
In fact, I do not know if the camera is intended to run again.
I miss this camera very much.
Waiting for news - Whether help is needed or not.

Hi!
What a great thought! That would be nice to have back this view!

Good idea aita, I could pay a bit too :hi:

Another thing: I was listening to a radio show here when people asks a panel of experts all about nature.
One question was "What are the natural threats of seals in the Baltic sea?" and one expert answered, "probably WTE"

Huh :puzzled: We have seen 1 incident when WTE attacks a pup during all these years, but normally they only eat afterbirths and dead ones, right??
Well eagles can have disturbed individuals too I guess

So what are the natural threats?

Hello,
I was looking for this old video clip from 2009-03.10, but the link doesn't work any more.

Does anyone know whether it's still available elsewhere?

It shows some family life, first male slides down the shore, the mum and pup follow, mum starts feeding, though the slippery slope makes it difficult for them to achieve good positions, but they succeed at last. The pup raises its tail up as it finds the nipple, like "Yes, here it is!" The male turns back to ask for his share, mum is annoyed and drives him away aggressively and the suckling is interrupted. Male is persistent and comes back, and mum must repeatedly tell him to keep his distance and wait.

One on the best seal videos I've seen, shame if it's been lost in the cybersphere!

Hullo!
I´m so glad that cam is ok again, I didn´t have chance to look it today yet, but I did watch the video clip http://www.looduskalender.ee/en/node/2926 (See video-10-03.2009)
And wow, it`s so amazing!
The cam-view is excellent. I cant find enough good words!
Big mamis and pups relationships are so touching. It`s so funny how the mother scare the male away because of disturbing feeding :D
Very sweet clip and super quality!
Thank you Looduskalender and whole "Seal-team" for this great opportunity!"

hello Bettan and welcome!
:gathering:

the video is very old, one of the first, on March 10 in 2009. i was just a week or two ago looking for some eagle videos from the same time. our "computer-wizard" or Techno-Urmas (as we call him), told me that the first videos were on mms-service (Microsoft Messanger Service or something like that). that service does not work anymore.

if many people would like to see this video again i might dare ask Techno-Urmas make these videos available... but he is a very busy man. i should not like to bother him for anything else than important. :dunno:
what we really need is the live camera back. :faint:
