20:32 Who is there? You can hear noises from the area.
Karl II looks, but does not worry him.

Image

@Heloise :wave:
She lands from the right where the old nest was.
But she does not manage to land directly on the edge of the nest from the right.
She always lands directly on the nest edge from the left.

https://youtu.be/02j1xaNShu8

Maybe she practices a little more and next time she can do it from the right. :whistling: (sorry, confused left and right)

Karl II seems to be taking special care of the eggs tonight (maybe it just seems that way)...

I was away for a while (I had a big and important day for me) and had to analyze the video by repeating it many times.
Here are my thoughts:
16: 31 Kaia leaves the nest. What is the reason? Answer: at 16: 28: 52, she hears a rustle that resembles someone climbing or scratching branches on the left below the level of the nest, and from 16: 30: 02, a large branch in the foreground on the left can be seen shaking....
16: 31: 26 Kaia couldn't take the strain anymore ... and flew away... to the left in fright.
17: 40: 30-35 Sounds like a sneeze or a bark... next to the nest (a crow can also make sounds like this).
17: 55 more sound near the microphone
17: 55: 30 noise of wings (crow?)
17: 56: 30 I can hear the crow clearly.
18: 00 Kaia is trying to get into the nest. This is not an attempt to sit on the right. This is just to the right of the center of the nest - a very inconvenient place to land in the nest. She had failed once before.
18: 00: 08 it flies from right to left past the nest.
18.05.13 sits on the edge of the nest.
Still, the reason for her fright is not even a person at all. I think it's a big crow. Kaia has no experience fighting them. Perhaps she had not flown far, but had waited...

But now everything is calm... I hope Kaia gets bolder next time. And we can only hope that 1.35 hours were not disastrous for the eggs...
Good night, everyone. :offtobed:

Good morning!

Thank you, Swenja! :hi:

10:17 Karl II incubates. He is calm but looks at the sky from time to time. He's probably waiting for Kaia for the day shift. Is Kaia coming? Maybe he is afraid of yesterday's experience...

Image

Image

From time to time he gets up, loosens the nest floor, rolls the eggs and briefly touches one egg with his foot

Good morning, everyone :hi:

Tatiana, Swenja, Heloise, thank you very much!

11:15 Kaia didn’t come home yet. That’s unusual.
She’s late... I hope she will arrive soon.

Good morning!
The dawns now come much earlier: at 04:10:08, Charles II can already be seen getting up and taking care of the eggs. He corrects their location, sits down, and stands up again, not going anywhere... and at 04: 23. you can already see the glowing side of our nesting ship (the glow of white color - PS our storks). You can see the bright sky beyond the forest and even the red beak of a stork in the nest... At 04: 43, the colors of the forest become discernible, but everything seems to be in a haze: light twigs not only in the nest, but also in the forest, envelop everything around like a spider web... By 06: 44, the sun is already high, and everything is painted in the usual colors. Especially beautiful are the pines – their trunks are golden in the sun... and in the nest, the pine branches with needles and moss are soft green, and the stork's legs look pink.
Image

11: 52 Kaia arrived. The first landing on the right was again unsuccessful, and Karl II stood up and sang for her. Kaye tried again and flew into the nest. The stork quickly gathered itself, snapped its beak (said something to her) , and flew off to the right.
Video:

Kaye examined the eggs in the center of the nest and sat down immediately.

Today, Kaia stayed late on the hunt... I wonder when Charles II will return?.. and if the crow comes again to frighten our Kaia... how Kaia will behave...

12: 11 Kaia stood up to straighten her feathers, stretch her legs, and straighten the moss . She looks around, carefully loosens the feather bed near the eggs, and sits down again at 12: 13.
The wind sways the trees and helps Kaye not to overheat in the sun...

12: 18 and 12:28 to the left of the nest flew a screaming bird. Kaye didn't get up.

Hello everybody :)

Well, deep in the night i had read what you wrote about the day, and i looked up, too.
Kaia was frightened and perhaps that was the reason:
the branch in the left corner was from time to time vibrating like as if some animal is shaking it a little bit. not very much and only from time to time but easy to see.
very probably she has noticed that before us g

Image

i don't know if the stream is stored somewhere like the years before ?
otherwise somebody has per accident stored by his/her own ?

i've notated in the night these timestamps: 16:29:50, 16:27, 16:53, 18:03
the first one is an example of the vibrating branch - the others i don't remember any more, either it was the vibrating branch or some little noise.
sorry  , it was late ;)

as you can see, the branch moved and is not any more to see.
so i think, may be there is an animal which is perhaps building a nest under "our" nest. Kaia is often looking down too, as i see it.
guess, a squirrel would be too loud, but i could imagine perhaps a little bird.
[edit: at the moment it was loud under the nest (since about 12:45 and apart of the wind)]
and now, since about 12:25 you can hear some noise from an animal again.
so, perhaps this little lodger will keep on to entertain Kaia and us.

have a nice day :)
