Many thanks for the summary, Swenja :2thumbsup:

OrniTrack MORNING information

Karl II was on the nest all night.

Around 06:00 he flew away.
We see him flying at a speed of 34 - 36 km/h to a feeding site in a forest.
(I have only seen him once before at that place, during one of his 'excursions'.)
Between 06:20 and 08:00 he is searching for food at a somewhat wider watercourse in that forest, about 8 km from the nest.
At 08:02 he returns to the nest. He flies at a speed of 48 - 57 km/h.
At 08:12 he comes home.

At 09:25 he flies to a brooklet about 1.3 km from the nest.
There we see him until 10:37 (last morning data), fishing.
At 10:57 he is home. (camera observation)

OrniTrack AFTERNOON information

Karl II left the nest at 13:00 (camera observation).

First he flies to the known brook at about 7 km from the nest.
There he stays until 14:20
Then he begins a rather long flight until about 15:25, to (the marshy banks) of that wider watercourse, about 16.5 km from the nest.
There he stays until about 16:35.
Then he flies back in the direction of the nest, making a few short stops.
We can see him close to the nest, in flight.
However, instead of returning to the nest, he changes direction and stops at 17:37 at a brooklet about 1.2 km from the nest. :puzzled:
(As we see the successive locations with an interval of 5 minutes each, it might be that Karl II has actually been on the nest, but for a very short time, at the most for 1 or 2 minutes.)
At that small stream he stays fishing till 19:27.
At about 19:35 he is finally back on the nest.

He stays on the nest until 21:02
Then he flies to another part of that brooklet about 1 km from the nest.
There he stays until 22:15
At 22:17 he is in flight towards the nest
At 22:20 he is back on the nest
At 22:37 (last known data) he is still on the nest

Today Karl II flew 96.2 km (entire day).

Good night, everyone.
Hopefully the camera will work again tomorrow. :faint:

Hello! :hi:
I am very thankful, Anne7, Swenja!
You are great! Thank you for being here every day!

:2thumbsup:

Extreme heat lasts a little longer. Fortunately, rain is coming (hopefully tonight).

Good morning
Many thanks for reporting. It is quite frustrating when the camera does not work. I hope that the night in the nest has been bearable despite the circumstances. Karl is a hero

June 21

Good Morning!

Thank you for the track data @ Anne7 :2thumbsup:

The camera transmission is still offline.

Since Karl II came to the nest again yesterday at 19:35, Kaia's presence in the nest in the afternoon is very likely.
Karl II also appeared in the nest at 22:20 to night.

I hope there is no really unsolvable problem with technology.

Many thanks for the weather report @Heloise

Good morning.
The camera isn't working yet.

I do not know how solar activity affects the operation of electronic devices and communication... but yesterday my internet was constantly running away somewhere... there was a heat of +31... where he went-to fish in the water or hide in caves-is unknown.... :innocent:

I hope that today our camera will work and my Internet will not disappear...

The chicks really grow very fast, and it is very noticeable in the morning...

Karl II sees that # 1 is the most fluffy of all and therefore a day ago began to actively tear out his fluff from the neck and head (in those places where the chick itself will not reach) ...

Soon the chicks will start plucking their own fluff...
Now they look like first graders... "still children, short legs in stockings, but necks and wings are stretched out and the children's hairstyles are still in place ... :D

And Kaia!
I wish them strength!

I hope the weather returns to normal soon.
Today and tomorrow are the hottest...
But according to the weather forecast, it will rain soon.

The chicks are smart, they look for a more shady place in the nest.

Image

10:20 They are restless due to the heat.

Image

Soon there will be no shade in the nest

I hope someone brings water soon. And Swenja can catch this screenshot as always very well!
:shake:

Fortunately, the sun is not too bright today and there is also a light wind.

But the temperature is unusually high.

The chicks are now close to the trunk of the nesting tree.
It is the place where Karl II constantly built with the branches. We don't see the spot. I hope it's safe enough there.

@Heloise :nod:
the sun is not so scorching today. Probably heavy hot air.

Hello everyone

Swenja, Tatiana, Heloise, Thomas :hi:

OrniTrack MORNING information

Karl II was on the nest all night.

Around 04:45 he left the nest.
We see him flying at 04:47 (at a speed of 39 km/h) to the known brook at 7 km from the nest.
He stays there until 05:12.
Then, until 08:07, he 'follows' that brook (a bit at a time) over a distance of 4.5 km.
At 08:22 he flies back to his 'starting point' at that brook.
This time he stays there until 09:15

At 09:17 we see him in flight (at 39 km/h) towards the nest.
At 09:22 he is very close to the nest, but still in flight.
He probably spent a few minutes at the nest and brought the chicks a quick breakfast. (09:23 - 09:26)
At 09:27 he is gone again, we see him very close to the nest in flight to the small brooklet at 1 km from the nest.
(Possibly he fetched water for the chicks a few times, but because of the the 5 minute intervals I don't see any evidence of that).

At 10:02 we see him in flight towards (the wet banks) of that wider watercourse, about 16.5 km from the nest.
At 10:27 he arrives there.
At 10:37 (last known data), he is still at that watercourse.

Hope to see Kaia soon.
