Hello!

I am from the United States (in Michigan) and I am curious what type of Jay that is? Our Jay's are blue here in Michigan. Interesting seeing a different type of Jay.

Good evening!
Thanks to everyone for the pictures and posts.

I think this female could actually be Kaia. How many months have we not seen her?
I was impressed by how familiar she is with Karl II and the body language of this female is very similar to Kaia.

If we want to call her Kaia, that's me.

Good night!

Hello everyone!
What a joy to see you all back!
Thanks a lot for all reports, videos and pictures!

But most of all, what great news that our little princess is back! :headroll:

I'm pretty sure that this is Kaia!
Beautiful sweet little Kaia.

I am so happy for Karl II.
And it's so good to see that Kaia looks stronger and much healthier than last year, and that she managed to be back on the nest on time.
Well done, Kaia! ❤️ I’m so glad you made it.
Kaia is now a young adult female and no longer ‘a skinny teenage girl’. :D

May this season bring them joy and happiness!

Some pictures of the strange male Black Stork from the afternoon.
The poor guy was very tired, he yawned a lot during his short stay on the nest, and I believe he also deserves to be documented here with some pictures.

15:51 He has very tired looking eyes ...

The stranger is probably plagued by parasites. He frequently rubbed his head on his back and scratched himself there too.
When Karl II flew in, he was gone as fast as lightning. :)
Hopefully he finds also a nice female and a good nest. :2thumbsup:

Anne  Good to see you! :D

She’s a beauty, and for some reason she always looks very female... girlish. :D
Last year we had the same thoughts.
Kaia is Karl II’s little princess. He is hopelessly devoted to her. :innocent:

 (3 times, for each statement) :D

I'm really very glad and happy that Kaia has developed so well, that her condition has improved so much. Last year she was probably not yet fully grown. She was small and above all very, very thin; she didn't look healthy. Now she looks like a young adult and healthy female.
I'm so happy for Karl II and wish them both all the best and a successful family foundation with (not too many) healthy storklets. :2thumbsup:

Someone asked today if it was possible that a young stork could change its appearance so much in just 7 months. I checked, it's been 10 months since we saw Kaia for the last time. She left Karl II and the eggs on 06.06.2020. I believe 10 months is a long time for a young stork in which a lot can develop.
Thinking about it, I am very glad that Kaia survived her wintering time, the long dangerous flight there and back. She is the same age as Karula was. She managed to survive the first years until sexual maturity. That is extraordinary and not to be taken for granted. It makes me happy and grateful.

Good evening all :hi:

thanks to everyone for all the beautiful pictures and videos !

Anne, Michi

i subscribe every word, that you both have written
Michi, also about the tired stranger, thanks for the words also for him. Sad for him, that this nest was already occupied, he looked so exhausted. I, too, hope he will find not only a nest but also a good female, as we know they are very rare.

What a wonderful start in this season - it could not have been better.
I'm soo happy that both, Karl II and Kaia, are reunited :loveshower:

Hope none will mind if i also add a few pictures from today that i like,
please excuse if one or the other could be identical to the one already published:
(earlier i had no time and now i'm too tired to go back all the pages)

Kaia, ladylike and petite, shows herself still a bit timid :innocent:

Karl II, so big compared to Kaia, shows himself as the gentleman as we know him from last year ...

Thanks a lot for the wonderful picture story of Kaia's arrival at nest! Such pictures have been missing so far. A great pleasure to watch every and each picture and your comments! :D :2thumbsup:

It's the same here. I have been working all day and am only now getting around to reading up on this exciting day at the nest with all the events. That's why I still have pictures now that I would like to see published. Unfortunately, the chronology is therefore no longer given.

19:40 Some peaceful moments after Kaia's arrival in the evening. She stands on one leg, the eyes closed. It seems she feels comfortable and at home. :)
Image

19:42 Some tenderness for Karl II ...
Image

19:45 ... that led to a successful looking mating.

20:49 This was the last mating attempt of Karl II in daylight. Kaia refused.

Few minutes later it was dark.

Good night, everyone!
