Good morning, everyone,

many thanks, Tatyana, rysx, Tatiana60 and Gaby, for the pictures and the video!

Karl II was alone at nest, when the camera started at 8:29:57.
There is already a lot of nestauration visible. Karl II was busy and has brought many twigs and moss.

At 8:31 he left and returned only 3 minutes later, 8:34, with a bigger twig.

8:37 he left again.

08:42 He was back with another twig and then comes so nicely near the camera. :)

Impossible to document all his morning activities. Most likely Karl II comes and goes with nest material.

11:53 Karl II is back at nest, singing.

As far as I could see on the stream, Kaia didn't show up since the camera is running.

Hello.
I am from Poland, we have 1400-1600 breeding pairs of black storks. How much is in Estonia?
In Poland, the black stork is under active protection, there are protection zones around the nests, is it similar in Estonia?.

Hello makol  I can't answer your question properly, but surely there's someone else here in the forum who knows about the situation.

Hello Makol

Poland is very fortunate to have such a large population of Black Storks. In Estonia the number is much smaller. I don't know the precise number but what few there are, are precious.
Yes, there are zones of protection breeding areas.

Makol and others :hi:

The webpage of Kotkaklubi [Eagle Club] states that the number of BS in Estonia is 40-60 pairs: https://www.kotkas.ee/liigid/must-toonekurg

You can also find a wealth of information in this forum, in the thread "What we know about black storks": https://www.looduskalender.ee/forum/vie ... ?f=2&t=989

Michy, Jo UK, Trine- thanks with the reply.
We have 4700-5200 pairs of white storks. On the other hand, we have few ospreys, but the situation is improving. In Estonia, the BS population is small, the more happy that Karl II found a girlfriend
