I'll try to find out.

I think this was some kind of beetle. The chick repeatedly dropped it and then picked it up again a bit further. I think it was still alive.


And what was this? I do not know. The chick in the middle threw that small black thing into her beak but released it.


Apparently it was not very tasty, because it was also repeatedly 'released' by the other chick.
I do not know whether it ended up in somebody's tummy.

Karl II is currently (last known info 22:35) at that wider watercourse about 16.5 km from the nest, where he also spent the previous night.
I think he is in a boggy area at the banks of that watercourse.
It looks like he is going to spend the night in a tree over there.

This afternoon Karl II flew another scouting flight (or was it a sightseeing flight? ), but much less far from the nest than yesterday. On average about 7-8 km from the nest, I estimate. On the way, he made a short stop at a brook. Apparently it is very important for him to assess the situation everywhere and to gather information. And perhaps also to fly, to stay in good physical condition and get some exercise?
