Good day everyone :hi:

Solo
I've scrolled back a lot of times and at different speed but it's almost impossible to make sure what these little white spikes are among the down feathers and small fish that the parents bring. The only possible food I can think of is that these are larvae of pond beetle (Acilius sulcatus). :puzzled:

Liz, maybe you can suggest what it might be.

:hi:

12:10 feeding - i think it was JANIKA - her legs were covered with dried mud up to her thighs

a lot of small fish - all three ate well

12:10:09 Janika (?) in
12:10:31 Janika (?) out

storklets were still eating after Janika (?) flew away
12:11:03 #1 discovered another fish laying at #2's left leg - and took it quickly

EDIT: it was JAN !! (thanks for correction, Solo; i haven't watched and/or read back earlier)

It is unpredictable: sometimes the results appear in a few hours(LSE Stephi, 2012) and sometimes in a few weeks(bald eaglet E14, 2020).

Janika also brought these nine-spined sticklebacks. They are small. Silver and black. Identified by Mars S.
I would never have known that. I am not very knowledgeable about fish.

I understand that the small fish are ninespine sticklebacks (Pungitius pungitius) that grow to the length of 5-7 cm but what are these tiny white things that are regurgitated together with fish? :puzzled:

Looking like worms or larvae or grubs. But which kind of i don't know.
Similar things were served in the Latvian Black Stork nest lately, too.
