The names are usually either for boys or girls, that's why I think that maybe names which are not names at all

Kork and Kruvi (Estonian words)
(I think that it is in Finnish = cork and screw = corkscrew in English but in Estonian it is not like in Finnish = korgitser) (Sorry my English   )

Kuutar, I am beginning to think that it is easier to find words which are not names! All names seem to be associated with either male or female.

Weather conditions Wind Storm Rain Sunny
Personal qualities Wise, brave, far-seeing

Etc. Etc.

Kevad (Estonian) = kevät (Finnish - not name) = spring (English)

Talvi (Finnish - not name) = talv (Estonian = girl's name) = winter (English)

Syksy (Finnish - not name) = sygis (Estonian) = autumn (English) [I know only one man by the name of Syksy)

I still would like to suggest a name to the little one in the BS heaven. When a beautiful BS family loses one of its members, this is like a piece has broken off a crystal vase. So instead of Tillu (Asteria mentioned that all little chick names begin with T letter) I propose Killu (a shard of a glass) to remember her by in our hearts.
Rein and Riina are beautiful names.

Not yet, Yarko
Voting will start on Saturday. Until then we ask for suggestions for names of the young ones, and for the departed little one.

yarko wrote:Well this is not a serious suggestion actually :D

but the words Kaks and Kolm just came to my head, because of the letter K:
kaks is number two in Estonian, and kolm is number three.

But like I said - do not take that suggestion seriously. rolleyes:
Kaks and Kolm are already in the black stork chicks name.

Karula is located in the south Estonia. there 2 is not kaks, but Kats.
 I do not know south-Estonia and the Setu dialect. Maybe there is some suitable word.

No one, I am very sober and don't drink.
The cruelty of the black storks shoud put inside the bottle. We need Kork and Kruvi to do that.

Hello everybody :hi:, I like very much the connection with the pine and cone - this has been suggested by Hellem - because the nest is on pine tree (pine = in estonian mänd, cone = in estonian käbi). But my suggestions for the names are slightly different than Hellem´s:

Mändy and Käbi.

Kulla was last year the chick in buzzard's Katrin and Kalju nest
Thank you, Hellem. That name will not be included in the voting list.

Following discussion with other admins, we have decided that we may use names previously given to other species. If a name is still in use by a Black Stork, we shall not include it.

Some names which have been suggested are not included here. Those not included are those which are gender specific, or already in use by Black storks from an earlier year.

Names NOT included are
Kert Kaarel Rein - specifically masculine
Lumi Koidu Riina - specifically feminine.

Please vote for two names from this list -

Elu

Käbi

Kats

Kase
(birch)

Kevad (Spring)

Kork

Kruvi

Kalli

Kulla

Männi

Mändy

Suvi (Summer)

Sugis (Autumn)

Talvi

Another suggestion for the deceased chick (but we can choose that name from any part of the list)

Killu
(shard of glass)
võitleja

Asteria suggested Allessa and Dhalia but those are feminine. The chicks' gender is unknown

I like Juta´s choice, so I also vote for Kalli and Kulla.

And Killu for the little angel.
