Thanks Ame and Olga.
Sorry to hear about the drama
Hopefully the two ospreys that Olga spotted will like the nest and settle down

Ame: my sincere sympathy in the loss of your mom. I hope she rests in peace even though the void for you is emmence. May you have many fond memories of her to carry you through this tough time. I would think the folks in the boat harrassing these birds would be subject to a good scolding or fine. Aren't these nests and birds protected by the property owners? I find this really cruel and unacceptable. I hope there will be a reporting on this and the responsible parties spoken to. Such wonderful creatures that have as much right to the area as anyone. Take care.....

thank you everybody for your sympathies.
it was rather a surprise and the Mothers' day felt so empty... - but she was rather sick and old already and she passed away with little pain, almost as easily as one could hope...

In spite of what appears to be a lost season , ospreys continue to frequent the nest

really!?? have you seen them here often, Canuck?
i haven't even looked here for quite some time, because the empty nest looked so really sad.... i just went to see and there seems to be new branches and other stuff there! what could this mean?
i guess this is may not be quite the place this but this is a poem i wrote for my mother.
Return to me as a finch in my home tree,
as a pigeon in the spring's morning light.
Rise as a lark above the field so green,
like a swallow fly in the sky so bright.
Sing as a thrush in the ending evening,
as a nightingale in the dark of night.

i finally managed to see one osprey in the nest. there has (according to the notes on Ploughboy's osprey forum) one (obviously) male osprey who is apparently running a harem there, or a Playboy Mansion. :people have seen three different looking lady ospreys there.
well, maybe it's not a Playboy mansion, the lady-ospreys haven't been there at the same time...

Does anybody know if there is a change in the link to this webcam? A click on the link only brings firs ´t a blue coloured site, which changes in this one:
Sorry, but I don't even know one word of the language,- maybe there is something written about!?

Hi Brit
Saw your post dated March 26th. It did change in appearance but if you see the listing to the left,
left click on "nettikamerat" and that should take you to the nest site

New camera installed and working, and nest improved for ospreys to arrive and settle. The camera produces also live image, but for this we still have to make some technical modifications. Until then you can see the updated still images as earlier."

oh wow! thank you Katti for bringing this to our attention!
the new artificial nest foundation really looks solid. i should think that the ospreys should accept that.
hopefully the video link begins working as soon as possible and with sound!
