There were originally three eggs, and it seemed that one egg was missing. Someone has been approaching the nest and disturbing the Osprey, causing Hope to leave the nest for a while... :slap:
best wishes for Hope and Beaumont

The woods are lovely, dark, and deep,
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.

Birdfriend, I found this. In Ospreys of Newfoundland & Labrador Facebook Group (public), they call Hope and Beaumont's nest is Snow's Lane nest.

5:49 it's evident that one of the three egg's has a hole in it.It may have been defective,I never seen anything that would have broken the egg, they can be lightly walked on by an osprey and whatever the situation,we are down to two egg's.One egg got knocked out of the bowl but Beaumont put it back in,soon after that it was apparent that we have one bad egg.It happen's.Now that we cannot even see the egg anymore it may have been removed or crushed, two egg's may be a good thing for Hope considering I believe it is just her second year as a breeder and managing two chicks finger's crossed would be better then three!I only became aware of a defective egg by Jacky Petrie in a private message. With Jacky's post showing us the exact time Beaumont moved the egg seals the deal.Hopefully the other two egg's are viable.

heartbreaking news

July 2

VOM Jasmine Moderator :
We are so very sad, shocked and heartbroken about the passing of #2. We think that it may have been from a disease, parasite, fungus or bacteria as #2 was well up until last evening...but there are so many possibilities.

Mom and dad are doing good and may take some time for their instincts to change from raising a chick to not raising a chick anymore. This is the first unsuccessful season for mom and dad so we will have to see and learn how they change and what happens. Mom and dad will stay in the area until they migrate in early Fall.
We are currently speaking to our wildlife biologists and will update everyone as soon as we hear back.

Just a reminder, if it is stressful to watch-please take a break and check back later. But, feel free to grieve and remember both #1 and #2 with the rest of the osprey community below.

Congratulations to second-born Shasta (WU) on her successful fledge! Early this morning she flew to the cables and then back to the nest. She's on the cable again right now, too.
Tam is our last nestling, he is expected to fledge any second now.

A windy day is ripe for stumbling, somersaulting, falling-over-each-other moments. Enjoy!

A hummingbird stopped by the nest (fortunately before the view was even more obscured, thanks a lot, Tam 😭), and Shasta and Tam both had high, steady hovers but have not yet fledged.

Congratulations, Tam! What better way to honor Independence Day than to take the first flight off the nest? The youngest fledged this morning onto the boom cable, much like Shasta. He spent about an hour on the boom, then returned to the nest.

This highlights video focuses on Tam, of course, since it was his special fledge day, as well as moments when the whole family, or at least all three of the fledglings, were together.
