Todays surprise.
Both eaglets had left the nest. One was flying/sailing a short distance (yes,he can). The other was sitting in a tree nearly under the nest all the time I was there. He was looking to get better shadow on this warm day.
Both parents were around. Only the "proud daddy" was good for a pic..

Today I saw daddy and the two eaglets. Both, I would say, 50-60m away from the nest.
And this two beauties u.o..

Fireblade, great photos
spatz, nice to see papa blackbird feed his fledgling, and I also have young Jays in my garden. It's a small, childish, flock
Airras, you cut the wheat already in Spain
A beautiful summer night, and full moon, yesterday:)

I am waiting for little black birds. I think at this time it is a "paradise" for the pair of magpie.
Lussi05: Nice pictue of the full moon. Have not seen it.
Think this morning I was again to late for the first feeding. Heard no eagle calls or begging.
It is much easier to see adult eagles in that "green wall"
This is the female, I think. But I am no expert and have problems to see if young or female.
Male
Hmmm
Later I was lucky to see one of the very dark brown eaglets

Sorry, bad quality. I was too far away. It is a WTE
They are every year at this location. Unfortunately the terrain is dry. Usually there are as many waterbirds

Yes, WTEs like to sit on dry/dead trees.
Today, I was closer to the feeding-time. Daddy (not ringed) was still with the eaglet.
It was a little foggy, because of a bit rain on the hot ground.
The eaglet moved a little in that direction, because the male gave food to the other eaglet. But not visible for me.
A little explanation, why I post it under seasons.
Too early and sad, but it is the end of the eagle "nesting-SAISON". Just a little information to me and I stop it.
Btw, the eaglet are still at this place to learn the basics. After that, they will leave for a "better place".

Fireblade, thank for the update of your WTE family. Very nice to see what the eaglets and parents are doing outside of the nest

That is also new for me.
Today I was out there at ca. 05.00h. Hoped to see a fish delivery in the area. Nothing, but there was a lot of other "action" and the nature.
The first eaglet arrived for me and a friend at 07.25h. Sometime later the second eaglet. They looked very good, but not "full". Both were flying very well in todays strong wind. They had contact to the water, saw one drinking.
After 2 hours or so they flew away in different directions. Still visible for us.
There was an adult in the "green wall" and flying, but no sign of hunting.
Btw, saw the first osprey in this "after-season-Season", and it fished with success. Very early for me, but not the first, what I heared.

NO WTE was poisoned/killed in Kiel! But in Schleswig-Holstein, that is true. And everywhere where WTS live. All over the World.Liz01 wrote:Unfortunately, many eagles are poisoned in Kiel and the surrounding area
