Millions of animals are dead and hundreds of thousands more will perish over coming days as a result of widespread bushfires in southeast Australia.

Native wildlife and agricultural livestock are among the fatalities, with already-endangered species at greater risk of extinction.

Although 2019's bushfires have destroyed more land than any other fires in the last 25 years, Prime Minister of Australia hasn't considered climate change yet.

It's a big shame, they have an disastrous government. They deny the climate change, they produce coal without an end and so on...

a WTE couple has started refurnishing a grey heron's nest for their own use on island Loppi (the Swedish name of the island is Klobben), about 5 km away from the centre of Helsinki.


the nest is well visible from several bird watching towers around the bay Vanhankaupunginselkä.

Fossil of the 'wonderchicken'

A hobby paleoontologist found a sandstone in a quarry near the Belgian-Dutch border from which some broken bones protruded.

Investigations revealed that the stone contained a complete bird fossil. The stone is about 67 million years old and thus dates from a time shortly before the asteroid hit the earth(*). This makes it the oldest fossil of a modern bird that has ever been found.

How these cranes escaped a life as status symbol pets in Rwanda

They were captured as chicks and kept as status symbol pets in the gardens of hotels and private homes.
Olivier Nsengimana, a vet in Kingali, the capital of Rwanda had found it strange to hear cranes calling from people's gardens, while wild habitats were almost wiped out. He managed it that today nearly no more cranes remain in captivity. In 2020 they count almost 900 gray crowned cranes in the wild.
