Not only the poor pigs but also other animals will have to suffer.

Thanks Bea for putting the link. It is only the first part of several ones, and even before proper translation, the things don't look good.

The bear cam will apparently stop transmission by Oct. 1 because of the prohibition of feeding from this time onwards.

Thank you for the bad news :puzzled: Does this also means no more apples for the deer?

I think for this reason they put out this wooden contraption. The apples are away from the ground and the boar, but the deer should be able to reach, once they get used to the thing.

Thank you, that's what I thought too, but there will be many crumbs on the ground for small animals :whistling:

Such a pity, but the ASF is highly infectious and I understand the concern of the people.

It has became more and more certain that this year we will not see the boar feeding cam. This is quite sad, as this is most probably the most famous camera here.
Recently I had the chance to visit the Loodusmuuseum's exhibition in honour of the animal of the year 2015 - the wild boar: "Metsanotsu - tõeline siga" - "Wild Boar – a Real Pig"
(unfortunately none of the articles has been translated to English so far, like for instance this one - http://www.looduskalender.ee/node/25616)

The exhibition introduces the wild boar, how it looks, how it lives.

A farrowing nest - one is invited to "try" it out and crawl in

Try out how they dig up their food (not so easy!!!)

A photo contest had taken place to have a lasting memory of how it was once before the African Swine Fever may clear the woods from wild boar for a long time

While I was there, several school classes passed through. There is a corner for educational purposes, where a film is running, which also shows pictures from "our" camera

At least one news is good: there will be NO hunting at this feeding place.
