According to a news release by State Forests/Lasy Państwowe, the bird was found dead on 25 January. Scorched feathers indicated the deadly collision with a power line. The White-tailed Eagle is quite likely from a breeding pair in a forest near Złotów and was ringed six years ago 350 kilometres away. Currently there are about 1.400 WtE pairs in the country.

The bird was found Wednesday on the track between Laxå and Hasselfors, where two eagles had been seen feeding on a deer carcass.

According to the article, the main cause of death in WtE the county is lead poisoning (ingesting lead from ammunition in animal carcasses left behind by hunters). Saxony is currently home to 80-90 breeding pairs.

The bird was found dead near Slagelse on Zealand in February. H5N6 was confirmed by the Danish Ministry of Environment and Food on 1 March 2018.
