Felis silvestris wrote: The article is still not translated, but as far as I understand the bad translation Google Translator gives, it is vaccination as precaution in order to avoid.
vainamoinen wrote: In this article there is an information about overall process of vaccination, what to do when you find vaccine in forest, what to do when vaccine is broken and get on the hands etc. But there isn't said that rabies is problem in Estonia.
Thank you Felis silvestris and vainamoinen, that's what I also understood, but why would it (vaccination is not free) if it was not a threat somewhere?
Felis silvestris wrote: The really grave problem is the African Swine Fever and I fear it will accompany us watching the cams for the next years!
I am aware of the problem, but what will be the solution to remove sick animals slaughtered? :puzzled: I read that there was prohibition to give it to the raptors this winter.

The vaccination is necessary because Estonia is bordering Russia, which is not free of rabies. Countries free of rabies have stopped the vaccination once the country was free, but if there are new cases, it has to be started again.

About the ASF - maybe you follow the articles posted on LK main page. I guess they will answer a few of the questions. (I hope all of them will be translated). It is a serious problem and the real experts are not convinced that stopping to feed will solve the problem, even killing all boars will not either. Let alone that hunters would be able to fulfil this task.
For trying to dispose the bodies of dead boar (however they died) - read here: http://www.looduskalender.ee/en/node/22136
A few articles in English dealing with this topic I have linked in the Boar Cam topic.

For the moment we have to accept that the government said that feeding has to stop. Whatever it means for us here wanting to follow the cameras.

And yes, I read that wild boar is not allowed to be fed to other animals. I think I wrote this also somewhere here on the forum.
“One can measure the greatness and the moral progress of a nation by looking at how it treats its animals” (Mahatma Gandhi)
"You can judge a man's true character by the way he treats his fellow animals" (Paul McCartney)
