Re: Estonian Osprey Nest ~Irma & Joosep~ (I&I) DISCUSSION 2
In my opinion Thor gets not enough fish in the last days. He needs so much energy for his migration, he still cannot successful fishing. He is really hungry.

Some osprey fathers will migrate before their kids. I'm afraid Joosep would be the case.
But I can't blame him, it's about time to go.

Read here please: "An empty stomach will teach the fish-eaters to catch prey – the skill does not come by itself".Birdfriend wrote:In my opinion Thor gets not enough fish in the last days. He needs so much energy for his migration, he still cannot successful fishing. He is really hungry.

I guess Thor will leave today or has already left. Sunny and windy.

It seems that Joosep took Thor in the first migration.

So, our last osprey leaves estonia. I wish him and all the other ospreys a good flight and many fishes and that they have a safe life. It's so pity, that we the youngsters most likely never see again. That makes me melancholic.

Thank you all for the opportunity to observe the life of beautiful birds. Thanks for the interesting photos, videos and comments. I'll wait for next spring to again surprise and delight, watching all the vicissitudes in the nests. Good weather and fishing for Joosep, Irma and Chicks!

For names of animal species better use the whole name for translation. Google Translator or dict.cc mostly know the names of animals. But I often use Wikipedia for translation. Search in the German Wikipedia for the species (e.g. Wacholderdrossel) and then change the language to English. You will get the English name, e.g. Fieldfare.Birdfriend wrote:20.September

The pontu-pictures show no activity of bigger birds, as no sticks were moved during the day except the usual movements because of moisture in the wooden material of the nest.
