Great Spotted Woodpecker juveniles have red foreheads that are replaced by black as they moult in the autumn.

ExpertOfNothing and balistar... thanks! :2thumbsup:

Nice to see also the difference in the colouring between old bird and young bird.

In between it was almost frightening to hear how meticulously the great spotted woodpecker hammered the camera mount. :whistling:

I've often wondered if he also has food and strength to himself.
In the last few days I have often wished that his girls would redeem him.

I'm sorry that I lost some confidence in him in the meantime. When he stayed away from the nest for a few days and was afraid that he might have turned to another nest and another female.

Have a good trip Ivo. Image
(I hope you have a Koi for yourself as a reward before you move on. :loveshower: )

We have to get used to an empty nest again. Many beautiful memories, fears, but above all, joy has accompanied us from April to September. Ivo has found a new partner and Iiris has become a caring mom for her chicks. Ivo, it is needless to say a word about him, catched unwearied all the needed fish for his youngsters and he is always the last when all of them left the nest to their unknown journey. All we can hope for, that no one is going to be harmed and we wait patiently that Ivo and Iiris are coming back 2020 and start a new family again.
Bon voyage Iiris, Mart, Pilvi, Nele and Ivo

Today was a bit stormy and briefly it was raining slightly.
Our ospreys have chosen the right time to leave 8-)

14:09 the nest tree swayed so much that we could see the deciduous trees that are otherwise hidden by the nest
Image

17:41 four wood pigeons flew together to the dead tree
Image

17:50 the four friends enjoy sitting on the dead tree without ospreys around :D

Since Aug 28 neither MART nor IiRIS were seen here again.
It would be nice to read such information on the first page. The forum is large, it is difficult to find specific information quickly. :dunno:

Hello KostyaTM, welcome to the forum! :gathering:

It seems that your photo hoster is not supporting direct linking for a forum, maybe give it a try with a different photo hoster?

Uploading the picture in .jpg is better than in .png
