:hi: every one!
Regarding Julge, with th détails so precise on the duration of trips and stops, I can think that she went to feed in places similar to those I visited and of which I put some photos.

Any idea what Julge eats walking on the fields?
S/he is not really looking for any water food in pond or small river so far, as I see..may be french field mouse is a real delicatessen :D
Hello Martak

Julge will feed on whatever he/she can find (and catch!) on those fields.

Just some general information:
Black storks have a varied menu, consisting mainly of fish, frogs and other amphibians.
But they also eat crayfish, snails, earthworms and all kinds of large insects, larvae and beetles. Lizards, (small) snakes, slow-worms, toads (sometimes contested), mice and voles are also popular snacks. In spring, nestlings of waterfowl (and apparently even baby hares!) can be grabbed. When storks are in Africa for the winter, grasshoppers are often on the menu. Grasshopper plagues sometimes attract 50 000 to 100 000 storks (but mostly white storks).

Hi all  Thanks Solo
Very interesting information. So maybe Julge is in a group. And they give a possible explanation for the BS being there.

Hello everyone :hi:

- there was no question: "garina do mar wrote: ↑24 Sep 2021, 15:14 BS don't migrate in family. Even siblings migrate in different routes. ... "(https://www.looduskalender.ee/forum/vie ... 76#p831176)
- as I have already written - the exceptions mentioned in your book only concerned the common beginning (even according to the information I have, they only fly together for a short time)
- information from your book does not refute the general information that they do not migrate together - and there has been more information since then (as I have already write Dr. Strazds also claims that they do not migrate together)

Solo, I guess you are right. And we can also see that in former years of Lk BS. There are some studies in France about that. And further more, of course when the BS are followed it's easier to know. But many times you don't even need to have them followed: they leave their nests at different times.

I hope it is ‘only’ that, Sova.

I'm always a little wary when a data session fails.
It could be that the bird is simply out of GSM range.
But I also know that the coverage in France is good.
Few or no zones without coverage...

Hopefully we will have good news tomorrow!

It's really good to have optimistic people around!

Katrin's data session happens each day.
But late.
Maybe it's better to do it in the morning?
