For some reason it seems to me that Sova thinks Pikne is a boy I hope Katrin and Pikne will meet!
And in any case I join a group of positive people!
I hope Julge has found his group too!

you're welcome; interesting information also to me; we don't know about Julge (last photos and infos - alone)garina do mar wrote: ↑September 25th, 2021, 8:00 pm... Thanks Solo Very interesting information. So maybe Julge is in a group. And they give a possible explanation for the BS being there.
; there are still very few publicly known data, but the claim that black storks live alone except the nesting period seems to be true (this applies to both adults and young birds after leaving the nest)garina do mar wrote: ↑September 25th, 2021, 8:15 pmSolo, I guess you are right. And we can also see that in former years of Lk BS. There are some studies in France about that. And further more, of course when the BS are followed it's easier to know. But many times you don't even need to have them followed: they leave their nests at different times.

A very far-fetched idea / consideration - can the volcanic dust cause disruptions?

Hello sova
Thank you!
I did some research, and theoretically it may indeed happen. The below article says:
“… Radio and telephone communications are extremely vulnerable to disruption during a volcanic ashfall and may become temporarily inoperable in areas affected by ash. …”
Edit: And also this
“ Interference… Large quantities of electrically charged ash can be generated in an eruption column. This charged ash can cause interference to radio waves and render radio and telephone systems inoperative. However, this has been very rarely observed. There are many examples of radio and telephone communications continuing to function around an erupting volcano and in areas receiving ashfalls. …”
https://volcanoes.usgs.gov/volcanic_ash ... adios.html
But I don’t know if there’s currently a lot of volcanic ashfall in France, as a result of the volcanic eruption on the Spanish island of La Palma.
Nevertheless, I read that this eruption has caused a huge amount of ash and smoke, and is emitting up to 11 500 tons of sulfur dioxide (SO2) per day, according to Involcan.
We would have heard of it, I suppose…

Yes, theoretically possible, with a south-west wind. La Palma is the small red dot at bottom left of the pic.Anne7 wrote: ↑September 26th, 2021, 6:29 pm
