I see the following message from Nikos Koutras appearing on the Greek "Every Stork in Greece" Facebook page.
https://www.facebook.com/groups/EveryStorkinGreece/

"Black Storks in the Pineios Delta.
Today I saw three of them in total."

What a beautiful storklet !

Udu was last night at the same river, the Pineios, but not at its estuary, rather towards its source.
So s/he is not the only juvenile BS who is (still) in that area...
Maybe the Pineios Delta would be a good wintering site?
The Pineios creates a large delta, well known for its beauty and for many animal species, protected by international environmental treaties. Wikipedia

TRACKER MAP
UDU - OCTOBER 20th
https://www.google.com/maps/d/edit?mid= ... sp=sharing

Distance flown: 140 km
Battery level: 47%

Today, little Udu flew southwards.
On his way to the Peloponnese?
So no Pineios Delta for her/him.

S/he is currently near Kostalexis, a little bit south-west of the city Lamia.
Udu is near the river 'Sperchios Potamos' (Spercheios River)

Lamia (Greek: Λαμία, Lamía, pronounced [laˈmi.a]) is a city in central Greece. The city dates back to antiquity, and is today the capital of the regional unit of Phthiotis and of the Central Greece region (comprising five regional units).
Wikipedia

The Spercheios (Greek: , Latin: "Spercheus") is a river in Thessaly, Greece. The river begins in Eurytania Prefecture in the Panaitoliko mountains and flows northeast from near Megalo Chorio and into Karpenisi and flows within GR-38 and through Agios Georgios Tymfistos south of the Tymfistos and into the prefecture of Fthiotis. The river flows into a plain in the west-central part and into south of Lamia. The river flows into an area which was dominated by swamp and wetlands which much of the land became used for farming and empties into the Malian Gulf.
https://en-academic.com/dic.nsf/enwiki/1010203

The Malian or Maliac Gulf (Greek: Μαλιακός Κόλπος, romanized: Maliakós Kólpos) is a gulf in the western Aegean Sea. It forms part of the coastline of Greece's region of Phthiotis. The gulf stretches east to west to a distance of 15 to 22 kilometers (9.3 to 13.7 mi), depending on the definition, and is very shallow, with a maximum depth of 27 meters (89 ft). The only harbour is that of Stylida, which serves the city of Lamia. To its east is Cape Lichada, the northwesternmost point of the island of Euboea.

UDU is currently near the village Skoura, southeast of Sparti, Laconia, Peloponnese in Greece

It’s about 70 km to the most southern point of the Peloponnesus.

Yes, Hellem.
That's weird! :puzzled:

Near Jericho, when he was almost at the Dead Sea, KARL II changed his mind and flew back to Tirat Zvi. Perhaps, on second thought, he realised there might be room for a few more fish. :D

Hello!
Thanks a lot, Anne, Juta, Hellem!
Bigfan :hi:

I don't think Karl II likes the name "Dead Sea", there are no live fish 8-)

Anne, thank you for updates

I hope very much it ended well
For me it is the wrong way. With luck, Udu will choose Crete and try to fly east across the islands towards Turkey
