This is wonderful news !!! Little VEDRU survived his first winter!
VEDRU was missing since his first autumn migration:
• Previous data: 30.11.2020, distance 6010 km, in the Eastern Desert, near the National forest Mangam Al Fawakheer, El Qoseir in Egypt
Looks like our little Vedru spent the winter in northern Ethiopia, in the Tigray highlands.
This spring, he flew north along the Red Sea and the Gulf of Suez.
He didn’t cross the Gulf of Suez.
His latest known location is in Lebanon, near Harfouch.
Harfouch is a place in the region Baalbek-Hermel, some 77 km North-East of Beirut, the country's capital city.
NEW DATA: 19.05.2021
Distance: 4066 km
Most probably, Vedru is currently crossing Syria. Hopefully we will soon see him in Turkey.

Vedru is one year old now but it is not known where exactly it hatched.

Hello everyone,
This is such wonderful news! Only now I saw it. Many thanks for the great information!
Who had thought that this will happen? That we see our little Vedru on the birdmap again? I'm so happy for him. Let's hope he will fly on quickly to leave Lebanon behind.
Edit: Sova, hi :-)
Sova , I hope you don't mind that I copy your posting here in Karl's family topic.

We have discussed whether to open a new topic for this new season and decided to continue with this one. We would like to make a few minor changes - to introduce a few rules which will appear at the top of each page. Until then, please bear in mind that those who make the tracker maps put a lot of work and time into creating their posts so please do not simply quote it on another topic. Members know where to look if they want this kind of information. For the sake of clarity, let us stay within one topic for each subject of interest.
There will be other changes - it is time for a Spring clean, in August!
So many topics have built up over the years and we need to rationalise our list of categories, forums and topics.
Be patient - it will not happen overnight.
Back to work - Anne will start with the latest Tracker Map information.

This morning, KARL II was still in the wider nest area.
He doesn't seem to be in a hurry to leave Estonia.
But we know (from last year) that, if he wants to, he can be at the Black Sea in a few days.

Nice to hear about some cleaning plans. A huge job with such forum !
It will be easy to follow the news if the migration topics continue as one here. And the posts (especially from those that have the access to the datasource) contain all current known data. I guess there may be created separate post for Jõgeva nest when/if the time comes.

I will prepare the latest tracker map for UDU
……
Here is a tracker map showing UDU's 'epic departure'.
I'm so glad he found the right track after this weird detour.
Of course, also here the flights in the (very) wide nest area are left out.
TRACKER MAP
UDU - 17th to 21st August
https://www.google.com/maps/d/edit?mid= ... sp=sharing
Udu flew over Pärnu, explored the Matsalu Bay, turned back, crossed (near Virtsu) the Suur Strait to the island of Muhu, continued his flight to the island of Saaremaa, flew southwest-wards over Saaremaa, crossed the Irbe Strait to Latvia, crossed Latvia in southern direction and was on the 21ste of August already in Lithuania.
The shown route is 604 km long.
A zoomed-in view of his/her flight over the islands
and closer
Next data session expected: today in the evening.
I am very curious to know where Udu is flying at the moment.

Anne, thanks for the tracker map .... that's all very nice, but what about Tuul?
Hopefully not one is lost before the migration has properly started.

Hello, ambyBM
Hello, Heloise!
I don't know. I have no recent information (no new locations) about Tuul.
I find it worrisome and cross my fingers.
The next data session for Tuul is expected tomorrow (2021-08-24), in the morning.
Let's hope for the best.

HI sova. It is not yet clear exactly what changes will happen. Maybe it sounds ambitious but perhaps it can be a simple change, like putting a letter in this file instead of that one. Discussions with Mr. LK are needed. Over time we seem to have lost the sense of which webcam is Looduskalender and which is Other and so a grand mix-up has occurred with so many forums and topics. Keep on doing what you do. When there is a change you will know about it!

I am praying for a safe migration of our youngsters. Last year was not good for our Stork babies. I have empty nest syndrome today and not even a feather to stare at in the nest. Safe journey kids see you next spring.

KARL II started his migration!
I'll prepare another tracker map.
________
Here you are:
TRACKER MAP
KARL II - AUGUST 23rd
https://www.google.com/maps/d/edit?mid= ... sp=sharing
Karl II is currently in the little 'corner' Latvia—Russia—Belarus
He spends the night in the Sebezhsky National Park, Pskov Oblast, Russia
The shown route is 191 km.
Sebezhsky National Park (Russian: Себежский национальный парк) is a national park in the northwest of Russia, located in Sebezhsky District of Pskov Oblast. It was established on January 8, 1996. The national park was created to protect the landscapes of the lake district in the southwest of Pskov Oblast.
The park covers 500.21 square kilometres (193.13 sq mi).
The park contains 291 species of vertebrates, including two species of lamprey, thirty species of fish, eight species of amphibians, five species of reptiles, 202 species of birds, and 49 species of mammals. Big mammals include brown bear, lynx, gray wolf, wild boar, moose, and roe deer.

I'm quite sure Karl II will find something to eat in his night area.
Good night, everyone!

Hello!
Many thanks, Anne7!
Last year we only watched Karl II's journey. Now there is even more to worry about...
I wish our young black storks a lot of wisdom to find the best migration routes!
