Jo,
- maybe one tracker map per day is enough if all is O.K. with our birds (e.g. one for you, one for Anne and one for Juta)
- and who know how long .... lost are very high in first year (unfortunately we already have this sad experience with our young storks hatched last year)

Good heavens, now that I calculated it, I am startled by this number ... and the amount of work! :D
do you now understand, when i wrote HEROES ?

thank you so much!

i would love to see new users to read before asking...

Urmas updates the birdmap. To do that, he also uses the raw data that is received (if all goes well) on OrniTrack. He will do that work at a moment when he has time. So sometimes not every day. For example, if he is abroad, you will have to wait many days.

Jo, Juta and I make the tracker maps. That is not an automated process. It takes quite some work and concentration to create such maps + pictures of the maps + street views. We are volunteers, and neither of us can afford to be permanently available, each and every day. So yes, you will have to wait. :D
Firstly, until there has been a new successful data session on OrniTrack.
Secondly, until one of us has enough time (and willingness) to create the new tracker maps.
Thank you very much for your answer. I understand!

To my curiosity, I looked at Oru's flight map and found that Oru was flying at its highest altitude at 1201 meters and the fastest speed was 65 km / h. I checked those values semi-manually. Those values were not in the same record. :offtobed:

The map path downloaded here (https://www.google.com/maps/d/viewer?id ... 000028&z=8) is made up of small blue squares, each with one record.

Here is the one of them

Thanks raija.
I see now. You mean that the fastest was in one data point, then, in another, the highest was recorded.
Got it!

Wow Karula !!! that's a proud number of kilometers.
I wonder; does he fly back to Tall al Manţaḩ later?

I have one more question; what can we expect next year? Is Karula flying back to the north (at home)?

Mare, hatched 2016 (Latvija)
2017 summer: in Romania
2018 summer: flew to wider home area, but stayed not, flew to Poland
2019 summer: she is nesting in Russia (between Lithuanaia and Poland)
(all 3 winter in Ethiopia, same area)

edit:
"On 29th May we got wonderful news! At two years age Mare reached her homeland - and she becomes the first young bird with transmitter that came back to Latvia from migration." (Dr. M. Strazds)

I haven't other infos about young BS tagged nor ringed
