thank you,
Hello Gigi :hi:

I don't know how long you've been away, so I don't know where to start the sad story.

KARL I
Last year, Karl's spring migration started in West Equatoria, South Sudan, on 13.03.2019
He appeared on birdmap on 16.03.2019
On 29.03.2019, he sent data for the last time near Akkari (Homs Governorate) in Syria.
Most probably Karl perished there for some unknown reason.
We do not know if he was injured or sick or shot.
Anyhow, he didn't return to his nest in Karula National Park, and his transmitter remained silent.

KARL II
Last spring, Kati did return to the nest and she immediately accepted a new (younger?) male. He was called Karl II. Karl II turned out to be a very skilled and hardworking stork. Kati and he had 4 chicks. The youngest was killed by Kati and another storklet was captured by a goshawk. The two remaining storklets fledged and started their migration. To our sorrow, these storklets have both perished too.

Karl II has no transmitter, just like Kati.
Our precious Karula is the only survivor with transmitter from this nest.

How lucky that these graphs exist!
If Karula makes few movements over a longer period of time, it is reassuring to see that his XYZ graphs are in order. :D
He is probably fully refueling before starting his migration.
