21:26 Good night!

The chick is 74 days old tonight and is increasingly finding the cradle a little cramped...

A note on the Negev camera(s): the stream is off.

23:44 The nest is empty now too...

... and it's time for me to step back. Over the next couple of weeks I won't be able to contribute much, though I'll do my best to keep an eye on the chick and the adoptive parents from time to time. The road ahead is still a long one - after all, the Negev chicks took around 20 weeks +/- 4 days to fledge, while the northern griffon is still a couple of days short of 11 weeks of age.

I'm aware that I have hogged this thread  but if you feel like posting here, you're more than welcome.

Cheers!

6 August

The Negev desert:

The Egyptian vulture chicks came back home:
Image

The nest upstairs was occupied by T90 and T53, two relatively young griffons (T90 is preening T53 in the image):
Image

They're a handsome couple, but probably still too young to raise a chick next season

This reminded me of how the chick had struggled to cross over to the northern section of the ledge:

Watching the fledgeling this afternoon turned into a sentimental journey:

Then Mom came to feed the youngster:
