Do (California) Condors count here?



This is at least the third season for this Cornell cam, though each time it's in a different location and with different breeding adults. Amazing birds!

Update (8/13): The inside cam view has changed. Now there's also an external cam showing the canyon where the nest is located.

There's also this nestcam for the Cinereous Vulture (Aegypius monachus).



The livestream is rather unstable, and the video quality is not the best, but it's still fascinating to watch.

Update (8/13): The cam has been offline for some days now, apparently due to wildfires in the area...

After a little more than six months of slow but steady growth, California Condor chick #980 fledged on 10/14



(NB This video shows #980 flying out from and returning to the nest cave about 30 minutes after the reported fledge time of 10:46. Afaik there is no video of that previous flight, which I didn't see myself. Also, the inside nestcam was not functioning at the time of these two flights )

Currently, there’s a juv. Griffon Vulture is going under treatment and my supervision in Egypt. Just letting you know it’s responding to the treatment slowly but surely; Fingers crossed that it won’t relapse. I’ll update you on the release, hopefully.

Good news !

It has been successfully treated and released. I have seen it soaring 9 days afterwards with a full crop too, I wish I could post photographs but I can’t seem to understand the know-how !

The video quality is not ideal, but at least it's there.

Incubation is in progress. Based on previous years, a hatch may be expected in late April/early May.

Back to the Spanish cinereous vultures: here are a couple of shots of the egg:

Curiously, the third vulture descended onto the perch already occupied by the non-incubating adult


Vulture 3 landed to the right of Vulture 2, which inevitably resulted in a scuffle


Having prevailed, Vulture 3 simply replaced Vulture 2


Is this a case of disputed fatherhood or just a rejected beau seeking revenge? Hmm

It turns out that the male (pictured taking a brief break from incubation duty) may be identified by his yellow band


A changeover took place just after half past two. The male got up...


... and stepped aside to make room for the female, who - considering the bird's size and weight - demonstrated amazing skill in precision landing
