I am late very late this year. I ve noticed only yesterday on FB that Lotte is incubating 3 eggs and that it will be very soon as the first one hatches. So I am here today sending all you you greetings from SVK and letting you know that I will come here regularly again.

Lotte sees Leo and is flying out, calling excited, and I think she got some breakfast from him.
I am pretty sure that I also heard mating sounds a bit later.
We can see the bird in the hind larder, but I don´t dare to identify it


Egg talk can be heard clearly, from only one egg, as far as I notice it. All eggs seem to be still intact.

No, it has not got any food since it hatched.

As far as I know, fresh hatchlings are well nourished up to two days from nutriment they got from inside the egg.

After the hatch it takes some time until their digestion system develops and switches from nourishment inside the egg to nourishment outside the egg. I suppose that a too early feeding would burden its digestion system.
And I trust in Lotte, an experienced Mom, that she knows when the time has come to feed the owlet with solid food.
With the bird in the larder she has enough food in stock to start feeding when she thinks the time is right.
