Hello Rosemary, welcome to the forum :gathering:

I think the younger owlet is okay so far, it got several very good shares of food during the last feedings. Sometimes only towards the end, but that doesn´t matter, as long as it gets a good amount of food. It will always have this "handicap" of an oversized sibling, but it will do its best to get its share.

Garden Dormouse visits the owlets - only a short visit, it still makes some sounds afterwards and stays out of sight

Leo makes a flash-like delivery, a mouse (?), and older owlet can claim it.
Younger owlet has the right tactic, tries to block its older sibling with its wings, but as the older one is so much taller also this "right" tactic has its weak points ....

As far as I noticed there were no more deliveries this night. A bigger piece of prey would be recommended, younger owlet has much better chances to get its share of food than with only mouse deliveries

In the early morning owlets were often out of cam view, I think Lotte arrived on the ledge at 05:46 (without food?) and owlets went out to visit here there.

Lotte is still there at 11:17, owlets prefer to cuddle in the nest bowl

Lotte found an old piece of a wing, but still interesting enough to nibble on it.
She left the ledge up to the cam support and still flew a bit higher I think. The cam support shook two times

Lotte is landing in (over the heads of our owlets - wow!) and has a muskrat in her talons.
A short feeding happens and it looked as if the little one got not much of it here.

A looong feeding ---> first view-blocked, then the older owlet gets a lot of food, but as soon as it is satisfied our younger owlet gets a good share of food

:hi:

It was again nice to see how Mr. Brücher deals with the little owls.
I think I * understood * that the big 1 400 g would be (?)
For the little owl I didn't understand how heavy it is..

A very loooong and nearly exclusive feeding for the little one :shake:

One has to wonder how much food fits into such a small owlet .... :faint:

There must have been another feeding around 05:33 (picture is from the archives), but I had a bug in my recording, so no video

Videos about the ringing might have a weird sound, as always when a lot of people are hanging online at the cam.
I did not cut and make more focussed videos, because the sound would be even worse than it is already now.
And who knows what also YouTube makes of it

But better than no video material at all

Ringing day - Lotte was already suspicious and took off to a higher point
