The sound was again weird, as always at the ringing events
Because of that Stefan Brücher´s statements were full of gaps and I don´t know what I understood correct or not ....
I think I heard that the bigger owlet has 1450 gr and the smaller one 1100 gr
Furthermore I thought to hear that the older owlet, compared with others in its age, is not too big/heavy and not too small, it develops normal.
The younger one is at least one week behind in its development, compared to other owlets of its age. Fortunately it had already big enough ankles to hold the rings. One week earlier and it would have been questionable if it could already hold rings.
Maybe we have luck and Stefan Brücher will still write about some data and measurements in his next entry in the diary?
That would be great
Ah, and I think I heard him say that he will send the feather samples for sex determination next week.

Lotte returned to the owlets after the ringing event was over - she is such a Pro meanwhile
She fetched the muskrat from the upper larder and started feeding the owlets - young owlet was determined to have all of the muskrat for itself

At the end of the feeding Lotte offered and offered the muskrat´s tail, owlets tried to deal with it, but none of them really could handle it and so Lotte ate it herself
Lotte flew up to the cam support at 17:37

“Animals, like us, are living souls. They are not things. They are not objects. Neither are they human. Yet they mourn. They love. They dance. They suffer. They know the peaks and chasms of being.” (G. Kowalski) Caveat: Apart from this remarkable sentence I do not agree with his philosophies.

Thr racoon has almost eaten off the owlet!
..Darn curiosity, I only looked because I didn't know what had happened when I read "omg"
It was over when i turned on.
Poor little owl, and I feel sorry for you too, Askja.
You must have seen?

Yeah, sorry, I couldn't write at that moment, I was trembling for the next ten minutes....looked because I didn't know what had happened...
Edit: Yes, I was about to go back to sleep, just one more look at the owlets... within a minute the older one started to display fear and a few seconds later the beast jumped in from the left.
04:31 He is still at it. both chicks nearly finished. And Lotte nowhere to be seen or heard.

04:48 The raccoon leaves. Stefan Brücher must have watched too, the camera was operated.
@Biker: thanks for your kind empathy, it does me good; it was a bit hard on my nerves, yes.

Yes, the raccoon also noticed the camera movements. He turned around and you could see how full eaten he was - could hardly move.
Askja, i here alone, could "see" you, perhaps also alone, spectator of the whole.
outside it was already dawning and now the fright begins to fade; hopefully for you too.

A morning look at the camera. No owlets, blood? A look at the archive.
Like in Denmark as the fox has taken away the owlets.
