Eurasian Eagle Owl cam, Haselünne, Germany

Three big owlets.
I have seen two of them outside the box this afternoon. There are 2 inside now, and the last one is probably still outside.

(I guess down there in the corner by the walls. In a red circle. Poor baby. I hope it will not freeze tonight.)

Barn owls, Cabañeros National Park, Spain

There are 6 owlets (from 8 eggs) in the nestbox.
Yesterday their parents brought in 28 mice and 1 bird during one night. It was incredible.

Owlets from Haselünne s Church roof

They are doing well, all three are big and beautiful - and I believe also very well fed. I did seen Mom feeding one of the youngsters, while another one tried to swallow blackbird. Mom has been with them this afternoon. There was also some allopreening. Owlets were jumping around on the metal roof and practising flying.

Yes, I ve been laughing loudly seeing them yesterday. One incredible picture. And they suit to this castle ruins a lot! And it is so practical... they are full and ruins are maintained well

I think their neighbour is a common buzzard (but I am not sure). Eagle owls like to hunt buzzards. He lives in a risky area, doesnt he?

This is very interesting how Owl moms behave in different ways.

Female from Haselunne EEO nest stays with her babies all day (last few days).
All 4 are hiding from sun in a corner shadow just now.

P.S. Very warm day - already 23 °C at 11:00

Girls,

Quax has died yesterday!

He has died. That little fighter from the Castle, so brave and beautiful owlet is dead. And I ve just got this info.
This is my birthday evening. I was born on Tuesday at 21:00 many years ago. I ve filled my glass with wine for my birthday... and 2 minutes later I found out that my dear owlet who survived 2 falls from the nest died.
Girls, I am crying loudly. I feel terrible. My soul is hurting.
I cant watch these live cams. Have no mental strenght for that.

:hi: Lubaska,
It was awful to watch this camera and chat. Throughout the night, day and next night, it was clear that owlet was sick. Chat members reported it every now and then, and every time there was a reply that the owlet is being watched by a falconer and is ok. Owlet was getting weaker and barely moved. When mom came to it last night with prey and flew off immediately, it was announced that it was probably dead. The next day, the owlet was taken to an autopsy.
Perhaps the owlet could not be saved and earlier taking it out of the nest would not help. But I am always pleased off by moderators, who answer observers' comments that there is no problem and everything is ok, until a tragedy happens. This is common on most chats.
I was so devastated that I couldn't even write about it in the forum.

I also watched this camera very closely. Thank God not that day and evening.
I was so happy with this little one ... and then ...
Actually everything is so well organized .... why did something like that happen?
Just sad....

Lubaska, happy birthday !
