Dear Manu, I can imagine how you feel after loosing your beloved animal. I felt the same way, when my cat Benjamin died. I think of you.

our cat Ritva passed away on last Tuesday Oct 11th, after living with us one month short of 23 years. she was already an adult when she came to live with us so she was at least about 24 years old. we have a lot of good memories of her and we were so lucky to have her with us and we miss her a lot but it was time to part.

in many ways she grew old like people become 100 years and even older. this picture was taken last June when she was sleeping between pillows on her back. that's why the posture may look a bit strange.

I'm sorry and sad to read about Ritva, ame! She had a long and surely wonderful life in your home and I know how much you will miss her! I'm sad that now we won't be hearing about the "old lady" from you any longer.

a good-bye is never easy but maybe slightly more bearable for us with the knowledge that our darlings had a happy life.

Ame, your Ritva was a "three-colored lucky cat". In german it means luck, if you have such a cat at home. She's been beautiful.
She was lucky to live with you. And you were lucky that she was with you for such a long time. She'll be fine where she is.

@ Kinga83

What lovely pictures from your cats and the dog
The video is super, would spend the whole day outside and filming.

@ Ame
I'm sorry that Ritva died, but they could be very, very old. My Coonie Tabby was 19 years, it was no longer.

thank you for your sympathies. i value it a lot.

Ritva's teeth were cleaned and some of them were removed a year ago at about Christmas time. the vet almost refused to do it. we knew that she'd need a new tooth clean within about a year (again; she had some tooth repairs already earlier) and we also knew that then it would be over. so we knew that this was to become her last year and so it happened. her teeth went bad but on the same time she faded away also in other respects. it was a very long good-bye and we had a lot of time to get used to the thought of being without her. that is why i think it has not been very difficult. she had a long and full cat's life but it had to end one day.

it was much worse with one of our cats who was only 2 years old when he disappeared. we looked for him desperately for a few weeks... finally i put a notice in a newspaper asking for any information. an elderly gentleman called and told that a cat like ours had run under his car about 200 m away from our house in the very same morning when our cat went missing. he said that he could do nothing to avoid the collision and when i saw where it happened i saw that it was true: there were bushes right to the edge of the road. the police were called to the spot and they shot the cat and took the corpse away to the local garbage dump where such dead animals were buried. the cat's injuries were such that it would have died within minutes even without the police. that was quite horrible because it was so unexpected. we were so lucky that the man happened to see the notice in the paper and called us and we found out what had happened. the worst thing was not knowing where he had gone and what had happened... it happened about 20 years ago but i still get tears in my eyes when i think about it.

this is Nicky, my beloved first cat. He died when he was only 12 years old. He had chronic renal insufficiency
Image

This is my Quincy. I saved him. He was seriously ill, when I got him. It lasted almost a year before he was almost healthy. He has a mitral valve insufficiency and aortic stenosis. he get medication. so he does not notice anything of his illness. He was 21 months old when he came to me. The doctor said he will live only 3 -12 months. He has been living with it for eight years, without problems with this illness.

This is Girlie. Quincys best Girfriend

She helped Quincy to get well. Both love each other :innocent:

Ame
t is very sad when a cat is suddenly gone. A friend the cat's away for 4 weeks. She saw a white sprinter and fears that there were cats catcher. Often it is better if you know what happened. One thinks about the terrible things. Newspaper, flyer, facebook, no news.

Liz01Your cats are very beautiful.
Fortunately, the vet was wrong.
