Greetings to the community!

Just noticed the topic and it reminded me of the time when I traveled to various European cities, visited zoos of course (as I volunteered in Wildlife Conservation Society). Now, as I retired and have problems with health, I can't go abroad.
Here's what I found in the archive of images (taken in one of the Polish zoos):

I feel really depressed when I look at those conditions and animals suffering, dirty and hungry sometimes.. Looks like noone cares about them at all..

 Many dead animals on fire in Krefeld monkey house zoo
Tragedy on New Year’s Eve in Krefeld Zoo in Germany! The monkey house is completely burned out after a fire. Gorillas, orangutans, chimpanzees and other monkeys lived in the house, which also includes an outdoor area.

A police spokesman feared that many animals were killed in the fire. According to the «picture», «probably all animals are dead». According to the spokeswoman for the zoo, the “probability that animals survived this is very low.”

Rescue workers fought the flames for hours. The cause of the fire is unclear, the criminal police determined. The city of Krefeld plans to announce further information at a press conference later this Wednesday. (KES)

Man Saves Ten Kangaroos From Ukrainian Zoo in Kharkiv
A brave young man has rescued a group of eight kangaroos from a zoo in war-torn Ukraine.

On Twitter, footage of the eight animals in the back of the hero’s van being brought to safety has surfaced.

The roos were rescued from Felman Ecopark in the Kharkiv region of Ukraine, according to the tweet.

According to the tweet: “Are you hoping for some good news?
We’ve got them.
The Feldman eco-park near Kharkiv was evacuated of eight kangaroos.”

Today we have a very successful and joyful day. Thanks to our team, which, without fear of shelling, worked on the territory of the Ecopark for seven hours, more than 80 animals were taken out! Huge thanks guys! I am also very grateful to the Kharkiv Mayor Igor Terekhov. Thanks to his position and the position of the leaders of the Kharkiv Zoo, he took the "main blow" to the placement of our animals - we have already transported 23 of our pets there - great apes, former lions, white tigers, jaguars. Today we will also transport animals there. Many thanks also to Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko, Dnipro Mayor Boris Filatov and his deputy Mikhail Lysenko, as well as representatives of Odessa, Lvov, other cities of Western Ukraine and all those caring people who responded to our trouble. Thanks to such support, today we are fully confident that we will be able to take out all our animals without exception. The ones who survived.
Today we saw the dead offspring of white tigers, panthers, jaguars and many other animals. It's terribly sad. But the main thing is that we have something that not only inspires hope, but also leaves no doubt that everything will be fine. Our example shows that today in Kharkiv everyone is one, for no one there is a difference between a zoo and an ecopark. This is our city, we do everything together and we will develop and rebuild the city after the war together.

Very sad events happened in Feldman ecopark recently. :banghead:

We had a murder. Yes, real murder, and mass murder. All the animals in the contact zone for the little ones died: rabbits, guinea pigs and other furry animals, which the children were so happy about. Before the opening of the Chrysanthemum Ball, we made this area, and it was really the nicest place, which the children loved very much. It was

An autopsy showed that the animals were poisoned with arsenic. It is difficult to understand the motives of whoever did this. It is unpleasant to realize that a person walks the streets of our city somewhere, who is no better than the Russian military, who killed our animals at the beginning of a full-scale war. Unfortunately, the ecocide started by them continues, and this is another link. We filed a complaint with the police, we hope that the investigation will shed light on this crime. And in the meantime, be especially attentive to your pets, I would really not like such a tragedy to happen again somewhere else. There are much more good people than these non-humans, but they can cause a lot of trouble.
